Anita, I didn't even know that you were headed in for your surgery. I guess I missed some of the posts. We almost have the same birthdate...mine 6/24 and we won't discuss the year....LOL Let us hear if you need anything. Congratulations on getting your band and many happy losses, hon. Heal well and heal fast!

Randy and Ms Joy:

I'm feeling great! I've been pretty active with walking around the house and riding to the store with my Mom. Mom and DD were here for the weekend; now I'm on my own. I'm so hungry; but I can handle it

Well, just remember (please, please, please) that this phase is for healing. Don't worry about losing. Joy did a pretty good job of it by CONSTANTLY having something at hand to sip on. And she really enjoyed the trips to Sonic for a semi-frozen treat. And she still lost weight.

I'm a meat eater. I wish I could have a "pork chop" popsicle or BBQ slush!

Maybe some pinto bean juice.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.png" alt=";)" srcset="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

LMAO.....think of it as liquified alligator....gator ade....yes?....no?....maybe? Well, soon enough you'll be on semi-liquids and then mushies. Maybe you can blend up a chicken breast or something. Mmmmmm, refried beans.....mashed garlic potatoes....LOL

I have cooked some homemade Soups and runny mashed potatoes, strained them, and put them in the freezer. I can live with that another 3-4 days. I am walking 40-50minutes a day; walking makes me hungrier.

How did you like Dr. McCarty? I was just referred to him and would like to know information about him and how he handles things before I go see him. I already signed up for the seminar, what should I expect after that?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
