Half Way Point 105 Pounds Down

Recommended Posts

Hello Bdoreus,

Thank you for the compliment and it is very encouraging to get responses from so many people on this site. My diet consist of lean Protein and green vegetables. I also perform one hour of cardio exercise 6 days a week, strength training three days a week. chicken is my favorite so pretty much have it for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am always trying to get at least 80 grams of protien in a day. I am not so much concerned about the calories. I stay away bread, rice, Pasta, and most fruits, except grapes, and grapefruit.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I do have another question. I noticed that you were sleeved in July of this year. You have in your siggy that you've losed over 100lbs so far. How is that possible? That is just alost of weight. We are in Sept now, which would mean it took you 2 months to loose all that weight? I am confused. Is it the cardio workouts? How is the integrity of your skin?

Regarding your diet, were you told to stay away from carbs? I am on stage 4 and I can't have rice, Pasta, or bread yet. I don't have to focus on carbs either. I am pretty much drinking a glass of milk or a Protein shake in the morning, anything with Protein (4 ounces) for lunch, and then another Protein Shake or whatever protein again for dinner. I am not even counting calories or excerising. I will start hand weights tomorrow. Am I missing something?

I started my journey on June 2, 2010. I began a liquid protien diet a month before my surgery. I went from 408 to 364 the day of my surgery July 2, 2010. I am currenly 296 and dropping. I should reach my goal of 200 pounds by January 1, 2011. I never really had a problem losing weight I just had a problem keeping it off. I have always been athletic up until 3 years ago but I am getting back in shape. I am almost in the best condition of my life. I believe it is the cardio that has helped me to lose as fast as I have. Believe me one hour of cardio does wonders for the body. I know you are going to do well in your training. Kepp me posted on how you are progressing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
