Keep your eyes on the prize! Girl you know this isn't about "sucks" its about success so focus and get your mind right.

I'm not quite 3 months post op, but I've discovered on this journey its all pretty much a mind game. Keep your thoughts and self talk positive, be your own cheerleader, and be kind to yourself. It will all be fine and you'll excel!

Diva is right, think long term.

Plan your diary so that you have stuff to do rather than being sat around thinking about the food you can't have.

Clear out food cupboards to avoid temptation.....stick a motivational photo on the fridge - I put a sticker on mine saying DON'T EAT!!!! at eye level which worked really well.

I was SO chuffed when I got thru my pre op diet, as I thought I would struggle so badly, but I was fine, and you will be too...... in 16 days it'll all be done and you'll be with us on the losers bench!!

Good luck

It's totally a mind game like Bit of a Diva said. Plus my surgeon's office said if our livers did not shrink enough they might not be able to preform the surgery. Well that kept me very focused. There's was no way in hell they were gonna start my surgery, but have to stop because my liver was to big to retract out of the way. Now that might have been a scare tactic on their part, but it worked for me. So keep that in mind your liver needs to shrink so your surgeon can get to your stomach.

Best wishes and good luck on the pre op diet.

Honestly, I think the first three days are the toughest, once you get past them, the rest is smooth sailing. As others have already said, just remember why you are doing this and what your reward will be and you will be able to do this without any problems!

Thanks all fo rthe kind words. I havne't picked up my Optifast yet - but I was told there are shakes, bars, and Soups too. So I guess it won't totally "suck" after all *lol* This morning has been a little rough - but one day (or minute) at a time.

Much appreciate the feedback. We are ALL gonna do this thing!!

I did the Medifast liquid diet a few years ago which I understand is pretty similar to the Optifast. I used the Torani sugar free syrups to enhance the flavor of the shakes. You can find them at Target, and I think another one of my friends purchased them at World Market. Read the bottle carefully though, because the sugar free and the regular look very similar. :001_tongue:

Wow!!!! I am in total agreement. This is the way Ive been thinking. If you want something in your life that will give you the ULTIMATE satisfaction then make food an associate not a friend. For the next two months I have to stay focused. This is a Huge decision we are making for our lives. Its time we give back to our bodies and treat it with the respect we like for others to treat us.

Keep your eyes on the prize! Girl you know this isn't about "sucks" its about success so focus and get your mind right.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
