Yeppers, pretty much for my guideline anything that could be blended or pureed counted as a much. chicken, egg and tuna salad were staples during that stage for me. It was so much easier to get Protein in from food, and I was so excited to hit mushies.

Hi there!

I just completed my orientation today in South San Francisco, and they talked about food getting "stuck." have you had this happen to you?

if you eat really slowly and take your time the chances of anything getting stuck are much smaller. I have not had any problems and we are beyond mushies now. I did get sick of pureeing everything pretty quickly the good news is that is only lasts for a short time. Follow your doctors guidelines they are there for a reason. If you are going nuts talk to your nutritionist about what other options you have. They have some great ideas sometimes. :) I also like to use a lot of sauces they help the food glide easier. Just becareful of too much sugar and added things in some of them. I will admit the idea that someone posted about hotwing sauce was well received at my house. A mini hot wing without the grease, count me in. :)

Nope, not with the sleeve. Happened all the time with the band, but never had it happen with the sleeve. The key to not getting food stuck is to chew well, and eat slow during that first couple of months post-op. Your stomach just needs time to heal.

Thanks, that helps. I bet it would be really freaky to get something stuck! :)

It's funny to think that soon I will be looking forward to a day when I can eat mush...LOL Can't wait!

The real mind bender for me is using a food scale. We purchased a little eletronic one to make sure we are getting the right amount of things. I still find myself weighing out 28g =1oz and thinking that is NOT enough food. haha Then I pair it with 1/4 cup of veggies and start munching away. By the time I am to the last bite I am full. The scale helps me to take care with my portion sizes and it works great! :) Honestly, the liquid (2week) diet before surgery was harder than it is after surgery. I miss carbs now and again but it is nothing like being hungry all the time. After surgery I am not as hungry. I do find that when I am bored my first thoughts turn to food but, that is something I am working on changing. :)

I had some egg salad after work today and I was so hungry I totally forgot about being sleeved and just ate it. It's like my brain shuts off when I eat. I had something stuck in my chest and it hurts most in my back for about 30 minutes. I'm working on being more mindful of eating.

I am with you guys... sometimes you forget that you have had this surgery. You really can't just munch on anything while watching TV anymore. haha. I pay close attention and when my body tells me I am full I listen and quit eating. I have also been eating about half of what I have then putting it down and waiting 5 minutes before eating the rest. This keeps me from feeling over full and any pain. Also the food scale. I weigh my Protein. It is essential for me. I still have giant portion EYES. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
