Anyone smoke weed before or after surgery?

Recommended Posts

Lol, I know! I was just researching it and had to comment:)

Hello, I was wondering how everything went for you, I am getting sleeved on 11/15/17, my pre op is 11/3/17, but I'm nervous because I use MJ, and I don't want my surgery delayed. So my question is do they drug test at the pre op appointment?

I didn’t get drug or nicotine tested but I think it depends on your insurance and what history you have disclosed to your doctor. My insurance technically requires a nicotine test but I don’t have smoking history so i think they just waived it. I’m not sure what my surgeon’s policy on MMJ is. It’s legal in my state so it really shouldn’t be a barrier to surgery. But that’s purely my opinion.

Hi all..wow there are a lot of strong opinions about mj! I am a nurse and I smoke mj in moderation to reduce anxiety and stress, its helped me more than any pill can..mj has actually been used for thousands of years for its medicinal healing properities! It is not at all like smoking tobacco not even close! I am quitting now because I'm having surgery in 2 wks and want my outcomes to be the best they can possibly be! I don't plan on smoking after surgery for at least 3 months..I just think people should really do their research about mj before commenting and or passing judgment on someone else!

I don't pass judgment, but I think folks care about others that are posting and the risk of an ulcer is to some not worth it and they in cautioned worry just respond as such. Not so much a strong opinion but strong concern for others because of the very real complications with smoking or vaping anything. I have a brother that struggles with pot smoking and as much as I'm able to my heart goes out to those who do. I just would hate to see all the hard effort be for nothing at best and life threating at worst.

You must understand that because marijuana has a variety of effects on the body and on anesthesia medicines, it is crucial that anyone undergoing a preoperative evaluation disclose their marijuana use. There is no need to worry about what your anesthesiologist will think of you. His job is to understand your health and body in order to provide you with the safest and most pain-free procedure. Using marijuana after the surgery is not recommended, although at https://weedsmart.net/product-category/magic-mushrooms-canada/ you can find some special products which you can use whenever you will want to.

There are many studies indicating the harm of using opioid painkillers after surgery. As for cannabis, there is still too little data on its influence because studies are only being conducted. For example, in the UK, an experiment was conducted during which people who underwent surgery were prescribed cannabis extract as an analgesic. I am engaged in the sale of marijuana. When the seo team launches ads on the social networks of my store, statistics show that most of the buyers are people who are rehabilitating after surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
