robandmandy1 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Hello, I was banded on the 13th of April 2006. So far I have lost 36 pounds. I just had my first fill one week ago. I am very paranoid about eating. I am afraid that if I eat that the weight will come back. I have been to the nutrition classes and have heard that it won't happen. I guess I have a hard time trusting this band surgery. amanda
niche 0 Posted June 8, 2006 if that's your fear, just try to be very portion controlled. almost like pre-band dieting. i have a guy in my support group who has the same fear. it has been 2 yrs and he hasn't added anything beyond cottage cheese and hummus to his diet b/c he doesn't 'believe' the surgery will work. now he's malnourished. it doesn't sound like you're at this point, but don't not eat. there's another thread going today about being too tight http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19379 in an effort to lose faster. self-destructive behavoiurs will only harm in the long term. bad nutrition. losing muscle, lower metabolism... start reading around the site. there are struggles with the band but you'll prob find that you'll feel fuller and more satisfied if you eat solid food b/c that's what the band is designed to limit. best of luck to you!
