Laser Hair Removal?

Recommended Posts

Hey All:

Has anybody tried laser hair removal post-op? I've been dealing with some chin growth for years because of my wacky, weight induced hormone fluxuations and would love to get rid of it now that I'm finally on a plan that is going to keep the weight off. Just wondering if any of you who have reached goal have tried it and what the results have been?

Thanks!

I am near goal and thinking about trying it for my chin also. I was hoping when I lost my hair that my facial hair would also decrease, but no such luck!

apprently once hair follicles turn into the black course type, they never go back to the white "peach-fuzz" type. i've researched this as well because i have severe hirsutism on my chin and down my neck and have to shave every day! i read that if you can get the hormones to stop turning the "peach-fuzz" follicles then you can have success with removing the ones you do have by laser treatment. i did have 1 laser treatment a long time ago. it did not prevent me from growing my "beard" but i did notice a difference for a long time in the prevention of razor burn and also it didn't seem to grow out as quickly.

i'm so glad someone asked about this because i know once i reach goal and my hormones get completely straightened out (which i'm already starting to feel a difference) then i will want to have the full 6-8 months of laser treatments. thanks for bringing this to our attention!

correction: if you can get the hormones to stop turning the peach-fuzz follicles into the kind that produce the black hair follicles, then you can have success at removing the ones you already have with laser treatment.

I had about ten treatments over a year ago. It slowed down the growth but never stopped it. I now have to shave my chin everyday.. so it was pretty much a waste of money. They say it dose not always work on everyone so you take your chances. I had a lot of dark hairs also.

Hi Kansas.

Im still pre-op but I have had laser hair removal on my under arm hair two years ago. The hair there was extensive, and was very strong. I am pleased to say that the treatment worked really really well. I get a tiny bit of regrowth now even though I still have a hormone imbalance because of being overweight. So I'm really sure it will work for you when you want to give a try.

Take care

Sue

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
