You Tube Videos for Inspiration

Recommended Posts

I'm only 4-5 days out depending on how you count. I had a good 5 months or so on a liquid diet due to the now deceased Lap Band that had invaded my body controlling me like some alien would on a horror film. So I'm not necessarily wishing to eat as the smell of food bugs me at the moment, no nausea, I just don't like the smell of cooking food.

Anyone else going on youtube to find people who are a year or two out who are successful for inspiration? I find it amazing to watch them. I don't really watch the post op period as everyone is different but after 6+ months it seems interesting.

I thought I might remind someone who is wonder why they did this to themselves a chance of seeing the outcome. :)

Carrie:

Congratulations! Hope the surgery went well and that you are feeling well. It's got to be a good feeling to know that band is out of there.

I definitely relied on Youtube videos for presurgery inspiration -- I especially found thinjourney to be very helpful and very informative.

As for me, I am about 7 weeks out and just shy of 60lbs lighter than my weight at my initial surgical consultation and about 45 lbs down from my surgery date!

Good luck and keep us posted.

Brian

I like Kella's, because she talks about the psychology behind her eating, and how she's overcoming it. And also, she eats kinda normal yet still loses weight (occasional cookie, interesting foods). I really liked her theory about fast food joints. Even if you're going there to buy healthy stuff, it's only a matter of time before you order something less healthy.

I too have used Youtube to look into the procedure, to track peoples ups and downs, for inspiration and information.

I also watched Kellawandas not only was hers about the mental, physical aspect she also showed some of the things she was able to eat along the way and you can see how things got better in that department while she continued to lose weight. She also used the same surgeon I did so that was a plus for me.

I have watched a lot of Kellawanda's videos. She seems to have really put her heart and soul into searching for why and a resolution for her weight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
