Huh...Acid, Vitamins, Time of Day...

Recommended Posts

A couple of days ago, I didn't get around to taking my handful of Vitamins (b12, multi, Iron, magnesium, potassium, Biotin, Vitamin A and calcium) until the evening, before bed. I usually take them almost first thing in the morning, around the time I have Breakfast. Well, I've been battling "acid" pretty much since day one; doubled my ppi, tried neutralizers, etc., etc., nothing working too well at all. Needless to say, I've been very frustrated by this and worried about the long term. This has really been my only "problem" since my surgery and no, I still wouldn't trade it for the world.

Anyway, I had a great stomach day on Friday, did the same thing yesterday - same results - and planning the same today and, while it's too soon to call it a scientific breakthrough, I am really, REALLY excited about maybe getting the acid monkey off my back! I haven't had this calmness in my gut since before surgery - over 7 months ago! Don't get me wrong, it's been tolerable but annoying and frustrating..

So, maybe try switching your Vitamin schedule around a bit if you're in the same shoes as I am - maybe we're on to something. I hope.

Carol

Hi Pirate!

I dunno...I have been lucky post up, no reflux at all!!! Not a bit, knocking on my head (wood). However I can tell you that up until I started my diet in April (low carb---cut out all white carbs and sugars) I had wicked acid every bedtime. It was worse if I ate within 4 hours of bedtime. Worse with tomatoes, vinegars or citrus. Worse with high carb stuff like donuts or rich creamy Soups. Worse with big meals. I was worried that I would have it with my sleeve.

However, about two weeks into my low carbs, I noticed I was feeling much better at bedtime. By the time I got to surgery I was down 40 lbs and hadn't had but ONE bout of acid and that was because I cheated and ate a big rich meal with carbs.

Of course everyone is different, but just make sure you're not getting too much carb. Made all the difference for me. Then again, taking your meds at another time might be a good idea too! Keep track of the data should you change it, make sure you monitor your results. GOOD LUCK with beating this beast!!! I know I feel so much better with it gone.

Hi Georgie! Thanks for the feedback. I wish I could blame it on carbs but I've been super low carb since pre-surgery, less than 40g most days. I never had problems with acid at night or even late in the day - always for most of the morning AFTER my vitamins! Don't know why I didn't make the connection sooner. Maybe I'll be able to get this last 9 pounds off afterall as with less acid/less desire to soothe with food... woo hoo!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
