What can I expect to be eating later?

Recommended Posts

I am happy that this thread was posted because it is exactly the question I was going to ask tonight. I feel like all I eat is a piece of grilled chicken or a grilled hamburger patty. I know I am supposed to have Protein first so I eat a whole patty and am full. I know that part of the reasons other diets have failed is because I get bored with the food and I am getting there already. I need to figure out some other foods otherwise I feel like I am going to go nuts. I try to keep reminding myself that I am only 5 weeks out and I am still healing. But I am off of most restrictions at this point except I am not allowed to have raw veggies or fruit until 6 weeks out. I asked my nut about how many oz of food I should be able to eat and she told me that there was no set number but to figure out my full signal (pressure in my chest) and then stop. According to all of my paperwork I am not supposed to snack but I still eat something every few hours or I get the feeling that my blood sugar is low. I have a headache, etc. Does anyone else still snack at this point? I am so concerned about over eating maybe I am not eating enough at each meal. Also, my nut did not give me any guidlines regarding calories. She just said 70 grams of protein so I have not been watching calories. How many calories are the average person with the sleeve consuming?

I'm 5 weeks out tommorrow and even though I've been given the same guidelines as you I still snack and just eat smaller portions at meal times. I am on the go all the time, have 3 children (one 9 month old baby) so I need my energy during the day. I'm having around 900 calories a day, and trying to stick to that. I've lost around 22lbs and have been on a stall weeks 3 and 4. Now I can feel my clothes starting to get loose again, but not weighing myself till my appointment on the 23rd. I don't mind losing weight a bit slower as long as I keep it off!:thumbup1:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
