Carrie- It was nice meeting you too. I am not sure about the support groups. It will depend on when and where.

My recovery is going okay but I had a coughing episode yesterday that made things a bit worse. As long as I am still I am fine. Each day will get better, right? My kids come home tomorrow, so I hope I am getting around a little better.

That is awesome! I couldn't wait to freaking get home. I even was allowed to leave a day earlier then normal because I was doing well and I just was insistent I needed to get home from Mexico.

I mentally felt so much better, the minute I got in my own car and my mom drove us the 6 hours home. I would rather be in a car 6 hours then a hospital for an hour hehe.

Hi Lunarose! Congrats! Didn't you just love Dr. Lyass? He is so matter of fact because he know what he is talking about! I am almost 3 months out and 35 pounds down!!! My sister is one month out and 34 pounds down!!! She had much more to go than me. We are both so happy and full of energy. Keep me updated with your progress and let me know if you have any questions. And yes, I enjoyed having my own bed back!

Dr Lyass is the greatest! So was Northridge! I am at day 5 and feel pretty darn good I can actually take almost normal swallows today I was able to drink 1 liter of crystal light with diluted light juice one 20 fl oz Isopure and a bowl of chicken broth with Protein Powder. Gas was only an issue the first night. Best of all I can sleep on my side with a body pillow. I am beyond happy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
