Carrie! Don't you want a chance at a normal life?

Drinking only liquids and being in pain for the rest of your life isn't an option, honey. No one deserves to live like that.

I'm sure that after the surgery is over and you've well on your way to recovery, you'll think differently. Chin up, k? You'll get through this and all for the right reasons. :confused1:

Well, could you get the band removed, heal, and then get the VSG later.

I don't know you at all, but I would not have a surgery I did not want. If your whole spirit is against this today, then just get the band out and wait until you are ready.

If you want it but are just jittery, then pray big time for strength.

You have the power here. This is YOUR choice.

As someone said living on liquids is no way to live. I guess any experience I've ever had with Bariatrics hasn't been that great. I like my surgeon a lot, his office not so much. His office reminds me of the slimy Lap Band Only surgeons who are just there for a paycheck. At this point I've been mostly on liquids for 6 months. My worry at the moment is things getting worse because at least at this time I can pick whatever I wish. My heart and soul isn't into this but my husband, surgeon and everyone else agrees this is what is best and this is the only time we will be able to do it within the next couple years as we have such a young child and a cross country move planned.

I agree with pumpkin, if you really don't have your heart and soul into this maybe you should just get your band removed and heal and then see what happens.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
