EMTgirlly 0 Posted August 24, 2010 This is an awkward situation that I haven't seen addressed anywhere else yet so hopefully someone out there has dealt with it. Ever since my sleeve surgery 2 weeks ago I randomly get horrible breath. I thought it was the acid reducers so my Dr switched my scrip but it hasn't helped. It only happens randomly and I can't seem to pinpoint anything causing it. I've been uber diligent about doing everything according to plan. Help anyone? :crying:
Tiffykins 673 Posted August 24, 2010 Your body is in ketosis, and halitosis is a common side effect of it. It will subside some once you introduce other foods, but if you're low carbing it, get a tongue scraper, those new Wisp thingies, and lots of brushing help at least make your mouth feel better. But, it's our actual breathe, not funky dragon mouth causing the problem. It gets better. If you break a major sweat in the next few days, to couple of weeks, you'll notice that your sweat smells horrific as well. Welcome to burning fat, and building muscle. It's totally worth it ! ! ! trouble 0 Posted August 24, 2010 Are you taking Vitamins? Maybe it's that. I notice when my husband takes vitamins his breath stinks and when I take them mine does too. So, maybe it's the vitamins.
Sunshine 1 Posted August 26, 2010 Yes...I agree with Tiffykins. Completely. Bad breath is a sign of ketosis. Sugar issues, etc. You're an EMT? (so am I).....check your sugar levels on the ambulance between calls.

DogBone 1 Posted August 31, 2010 Are you cleaning your tongue? When you are eating a lot your tongue gets a scrub from food, but now....Buy a tongue scraper.
