Ideas for cottage cheese?

Recommended Posts

yoda did you have that kind of yogurt on your pre op or the plain fruit yogurt i don.t like cottage cheese thanks loriely

Yup, that is the yogurt I had on my pre-op...it was okay because it was fat free and doesn't have added fruit and is ooooh so yummy.

Buffie....careful, though good ideas for after you are banded...you can't put any of that stuff they've been talking about into your cottage cheese (except spices). In other words, NOTHING that would add any type of calories.

*shuddering* Thinking of ANYTHING with cottage cheese...bllllech.....cottage cheese.....eeeek! I can't even LOOK at it!! LOL.

LOL @ CanadaSunshine...yogurt it is then!!

I'm a salt girl...loads of salts...garlic salt, onion salt, celery salt, Molly McCheese (near the salt in the grocery)....also it is good heated with sugar and cinnamon...I love cottage cheese. I'm in the clear liquid phase aftern my second fill and I'm surrently "cheating" with cottage cheese!

[i am Canadian living overseas and am thinking about the surgery in August. The doctor here did not mention any preop diet...can you tell me about it. He did tell me that I will be on a liquid diet for one month after while I heal and that I cannot drink with my food. What other food rules do you follow?

quote=Yoda]Buffie,

I had to do that too. Plus, I HATE cottage cheese and don't go near it so I only had yogurt (& lots of it!!). I came across Yoplait's SOURCE yogourt (fat free). And they have SCRUMPTIOUS (& I do mean scrumptious!) flavours now that are to DIE for!! So, I didn't get bored and I kept on loving them. You can get a good deal on them at costco...but they are also in regular grocery stores. They have flavours like "Lemon parfait", "Blueberry crumble", "Raspberry Apple Crumble", Stawberry Chantilly" etc. Soooooo good. AND, I lost 18 lbs during my 2 week preop diet!!!

Janetinabudhabi: not everyone needs to be on a pre-op diet. It mostly depends on how heavy your are and your BMI. The reason behind the pre-op diet isn't necessarily to lose weight beforehand; it is to reduce the size of your liver. The pre-op diet lessens the fat in your liver, causing it to shrink...in turn this makes it easier for the doc. to do the surgery since he needs to sort of lift the liver and access beneath it to do the work. Therefore...less fatty liver makes his job easier and your recuperation easier. But again...not everyone needs to do this. Just ask him about it if you are unsure.

Hi,

I've always liked cottage cheese with canned pears but since having surgery I've really been enjoying those little containers of flavoured applesauce. The ones I get are made by Motts, unsweetened and come in a variety of flavours. I really enjoy stirring the sauce into the cottage cheese and find it very easy to digest-especially post surgery.

Best wishes!:smile2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
