Ihave6kids 29 Posted August 20, 2010 I know I read an article a few weeks ago why we shouldn't drink while eating but can't find it. Can anyone help?
coops 1,790 Posted August 20, 2010 Hiya Julie... I read a similar article, sorry don't have a link but from but from what I can remember the main reason given was to stay full longer. The example they gave was a sink... if you pour Water down a since it just simply runs through... if you put mushed (chewed) food down a drain it will just sit there... then, if you add water the mush will go down quicker! So, I think that what it was trying to say is to stay fuller longer, don't drink and let the food slowly empty out of the tiny tummy... Does that make sense? pnw218 14 Posted August 21, 2010 And - you will get full faster without getting the Protein and nutrients you need if you drink too soon before eating or while eating. I do take sips with my food, some things just need a little liquid to get it down : ) White meat chicken, beef (steak or roast), melted cheese ... those types of things don't go down well for me at all - even with a little liquid. If that is my only choice of something to eat, I take small bites and eat slowly.
thisislou 13 Posted August 21, 2010 My doctor told me a bit of a different story. He also said it is like a sink - but a sink that is full and "clogged" after eating. By drinking it just adds to the stomach where nowhere to go but up... and I have had that feeling. Lou
