Foods you used to love but now hate

Oh, but that is the beautiful thing about the sleeve, it makes you stop for yourself!! It is like a dream come true to enjoy anything you want in moderation. I have not deprived myself of a single thing throughout my whole sleeve journey, and still dropped steadily. I am at a potential stall, but wearing size 8 pants and less than 15 pounds from goal I am not going to sweat it in the least. When I am ready to drop these last pounds I know that it will not be any trouble to buckle down and do it. And I won't even have to feel deprived in the least. I heart my sleeve!

Lately, I don't like anything. OK, that's not entirely true, but I don't like most of the things I'm supposed to be eating. Chicken--gross, pork--gross, eggs--gross, etc. I have tried 2 trader joe's indian dinners in the past week and both tasted terrible to me. I find that disappointing.

Mostly I want fruits and veggies. And carbs. I think I will indulge myself in eating more veggies even if that means I'm low on Protein for a couple days. I eat about 1 serving of fruit a day in my Protein smoothies. Yum. I'm planning to buy a loaf of German Vollkornbrot--the german bread that is as heavy as a brick. I love that stuff (ok, I used to, not sure about now.) I need to eat it in moderation as my nut doesn't want me to eat grain at all and carbs have been a problem in the past.

In the end though, in spite of no longer liking indian or vietnamese, it's completely worth it. It's just weird not to know what I like.

I had some good fries a couple of days ago. I can't eat very many.

I am also glad I can only eat a little bit of ice cream. If I eat more than a little bit, it makes me deathly sick and that's a good thing!

I believe you Jane, or I desperately want to believe you, but it's like telling a crack-head that crack no longer has addictive properties. :D

LOL, I haven't tried the proper chip shop chips but the oven variety are really off putting now. I hope you will be the same. I was a chip monster when i could get them, smothered in salt and ketchup. Now the same thought leaves me cold, it's a funny old thing the link between our heads and our stomachs, I never realised that taste could be so physiological (sp?). I was craving tom yum Soup with crab stick recently, finally found a Chinese supermarket that sells a good paste. You can make that in a cup which is handy for a quick lunch. Maybe you could get some to make your diet a bit more bearable? What food do you have access to apart from canteen variety? It would be better than the Peanut Butter, and just as tasty. I could mail you some paste the next time I go to the supermarket if you like.

What I've got available to me that isn't fried/breaded/white carbs/sugary:

baked chicken breast

steamed veg medley

canned tuna/turkey

steamed fish

raw salad fixings

ribeye steak/fajita steak/swiss steak

snacks:

Peanut Butter

beef Jerky

cream cheese/laughing cow cheese

drink:

plain Water

herbal tea (tea bags from home)

Protein rtd shakes

It's a responsible menu but sorely lacking in flavor, variety, and deliciousness. I think this is the reason I am finding it so difficult to stick to 600 cals lately, I keep ending up with a daily total nearer to 700. :)

Send me something? :huh0: wahoo!! That would be fantastic!! But I don't have access to a kitchen, only a fridge and a microwave.

Oooh Tom Yum Soup. I hope I still like it. I may try tonight. I got some Patak's Madras Curry paste. I'm going to try to make some deviled eggs with it (curried eggs actually). I'm hoping I still like Indian, just not trader joe's. The weird thing is that I'm craving it. Will it be as good as I've anticipated?

I was a Pepsiholic...straight Pepsi none of that diet crap. I would have about 4 cans a day. I tried a drink the other day. NASTY. I did sip a few sips of my sons Sierra Mist and that isn't too bad and I previously did not like that stuff.

Oh and I was an iced vanilla coffe addict (McDonalds) and I have had no desire to try that...it doesn't even sound good.

Chinese food....not working for me. I just tried a few bites of chowmien from Panda express yesterday and chewed it up really really good...it just did not go down well. I think that it will be a no go.

Broccoli is my fave veggie and THANK god it still tastes wonderful and goes and stays down fine. I have been having it daily (I love those zip and steam pouches from Ziplock!) Oh and avocado has been my second best friend. LOVE EM

It is still early on in my game...I am just sampling right now but I am sure more will turn up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
