I dont know whats wrong

Recommended Posts

Ive been so excited for this and been looking foward to it. Now Ive taken all the steps and I just need to lose the 20lbs before getting put on the waiting list. I honestly should ahve lost it by now. I just cant seem to do it. Part of me thinks that somewhere in the back of my mind im sabotaging myself because Im scared to death to have surgery. I ahve never had an operation before and Im scared to be put under. I have an irrational fear that i will have a heart attack or some adverse reaction to the anesthesia or something.

I dont knwo what to do and I feel stuck!!

Well, yesterday I started a primarily fruit and veggie diet and I started working out (exhausting!!)

Did anyone else go through this? What helped you?

Thanks in advance for any insight,

Ali

Hi Ali,

Do a ticker and post here every few days for help to keep you focussed. Personally i would go more Atkins to lose 20lbs quickly as I always found I felt far more satisfied on that diet when I had my huge and stretchy stomach. Drink plenty of Water between meals as sometimes we confuse thirst with hunger. Focus on the things you will be able to do when you are not carrying all that weight and be aware of the restrictions you currently experience. Look at skimpy pretty underwear and imagine yourself wearing it with a slim and lithe body. Look at it all as a project, the You Project, finally after all those years its time for You. You can do it.

I agree with Jane, try a high-protein diet instead. The weight will come off faster, you'll be more satisfied, and less of the weight will be muscle.

My doctor never said I had to set a certain amount of weight but I just had to do a low carb diet for 2 weeks. I could have 30 carbs and 70 grams of Protein a day. 30 carbs is a lot really because you can eat all the meat and cheese you want. I would eat things like tostadas with hamburger meat and cheese. I'd eat lunch meat and cheese for lunch and then save all my carbs for supper. 2 tostadas is only 26 carbs so I was less than my 30 and didn't feel like I was dieting. In the 2 weeks I lost 17 lbs. So, you might try the low carb it may work for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
