Excess Skin - WHEN?

Recommended Posts

I'm basically counting on at least some excess skin, I was just curious - when did you start to notice it? I've lost about 30% of my excess weight, and so far, I still have enough fat that the skin isn't sagging yet :scared:. So anyway, just curious. I was going to attach a poll, but I don't know how. Maybe for simplicity it would be good to say the percentage of weight loss when you noticed it in addition to the amount of weight loss (just because we are all special & unique snowflakes).

Thanks :P

I didn't really notice excess skin until I'd lost at least 80-90 lbs. That's anywhere from 50 - 75% of my excess weight lost, depending on how I calculate.

I've lost over 50% of my excess weight and I havent noticed any yet. My excess weight was 80-90lb in total though and I'm pretty tall.

I've lost 65 lbs all together, and had noticed access skin at around 50 lbs lost. I got stuck for a number of months, and some of the skin on my stomach seems to have tightened up a little. My panni (lower stomach) was never too big, but it hangs a little bit now, but it's not so 'squishy' as it was 6 months or so ago. My breasts of course haven't tightened up at all, and aren't going to. If I don't have anything else done, I'm going to have them lifted.

I am hoping that since I'm 24, and with some exersize, the skin wont be too bad. At the very most hopefully I'll need the breast lift, and then minor work on my arms, thighs and stomach, but we'll see.

Yeah it looks like we have similar stats. I'm 22, and with a little more to lose, but also a few inches taller. I know I will probably have my breasts and stomach done maybe. I don't really want to (am afraid of the pain), but I think I will want it anyway. So far my arms and thighs are sort of okay. We'll see.

I WILL have my breasts done, lol....

As for everything else, I think there's a decent amount of skin I could tolerate, but if it's at a certain point, I'll have to get rid of it, lol. IE: if I feel like I have to wear a size larger shirt to 'hide' it, I'll probably have it taken care of.

Then of course the question is when.... shortly after getting to goal before having kids (risking I might want more done later), or waiting until I've had kids, getting the body I want in my 30's! (You know which way I am leaning!)

I've been having the same ideas! Granted, who knows what my body will look like. Based on the stretch marks, I know that my breasts are going to be a serious problem, and probably tummy too. I have some flab on my arms & thighs, but I am hoping they won't be too much of a problem. But then I worry because if I do have PS, I will probably be like 24 when I do. That's way too early to know if I am going to have kids, etc. And I don't think I'll be able to wait until I do have kids to have the body I want. Besides, unlike lots of bandsters, I'm not married! :) If I'm gonna be out & dating, I want to be comfortable in my body.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
