Hello,

Just wanting to know if anyone has had surgery thru the Weight Wise Clinic at the Royal Alexander in Edmonton. I am finally going to see surgeon on September 9 and see what he has to say. If it is a go for the sleeve. I sure hope so. It has been over a year and a half since this all started..over 3 years since referral, I hope gives a big YES to it

I did not know they perform the VSG in Edmonton. Still too long of a wait for me even though I have to wait till early next year to have the surgery. Faster than health care here and Dr Aceves seems to be a very experienced surgeon which I would prefer to have.

Hi! I am going for the sleeve on August 23.....I have been enrolled with the Weight Wise Clinic since April 2010.....but applied to get IN to the clinic in 2007. It was a very long wait. (I had a baby and got married in that time ;)

The WW Clinic has been very good with dealing with all the underlying issues why we are overweight and how to lose the weight. My only problem was the multiple trips I had to make to Edmonton....(I live 5 hrs away) I usually had to go there every 6-7 weeks, which travel can get costly. They also expect you to follow up quite a bit after surgery as well.....but at the end of the day, monitoring your weight loss and success will keep you on track.

Good luck, and listen to what they say...they are a great team and just want you to succeed.

I live in Lethbridge, and need to start travelling to Red Deer. I am a revision patient (had my band in 2003 in Sydney Australia) and have decided (due to pain) to have it removed and have the sleeve done. I have my first appointment on 7 September with the new surgeon. It is Dr Farries office and he now has another 2 surgeons working with him - which is good timing for me I guess. I have no patients for waiting - I do other weird things like go mad cleaning and sorting my house (which is good to some I guess) and starting buying things that I didn't before I started this journey again. Like I always say this site is a lifesaver. I would love to keep in touch with all you Alberta ladies.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
