Water after working out

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I am scheduled to be sleeved on October 11th. I plan on getting in to a normal work our routine at least 5 days per week. When I've worked out before, I've done the interval training and really push myself with the cardio. My question is....When I am done with my workout I cannot drink enough Water fast enough. How is this going to work after the sleeve? Is sipping going to "cut" it?

Tamboo, I have the same problem. I am very thirsty after working out. I have found that drinking WHILE you're working out helps. Try to take sips as you're walking/biking/ellipticaling (lol?). sometimes I have to stop for just a few seconds to take a couple of sips, then I get back at it asap to keep the heart rate up.

I was worried about this too. I love to go for a big hike in the sun and the n guzzel down some cold Water. I couldn't do it till around month 3 but I can handle about 4 big guzzels now. Its enough so that I get that great quenching feeling after exercise, but probably not enough to rehydrate me. I try to be very hydrated before working out and take sips throughout. I can usually get a good size bottle in me in the 30 mins after my workout.

I was the same. Small sips to start with and always felt thirsty, but now I can take quite big mouthfuls, so feel much more quenched than before.

We're all different. I was getting in 64 oz on day 5 post-op. I could guzzle Water pretty early on. I exercise 1-2 hours, 7 days a week and have no problem getting in my Water. I keep a water bottle on the eliptical, treadmill or other equipment, and just drink as needed. I always have water with me on a hike.

I bet you'll do just fine.

You'll have to see what works for you, but I find it really seems to help to keep well hydrated at all times and will try to drink quite a bit right before exercise (when I'm teaching aerobic class I try not to stop for sips, so this is necessary). I still have trouble, at a year out, guzzling. I can usually sip a Water bottle pretty fast, but not the guzzle I used to do.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
