Aceves Patients: Surgery Schduling...

Recommended Posts

Hi all who were sleeved or revised from Dr. Aceves.

Quick question: When you decided to go with Aceves, how long were you scheduled for? 4 weeks? 2 Months? Longer?

I'm mostly curious of those who liked to get in as soon as possible, and rather not if you purposely scheduled months in advance.

Thanks in advance!! You all have been a blessing. :)

I called in late June to book for August and August was basically empty. So at the most, about a month's wait - I'm sure I would've been able to get in faster, but had some stuff going on on my end til August.

I scheduled 8-12-10 around the first of July with no problem at all. Ended up having to cancel that date due to knee injury/surgery, but am hoping to reschedule sometime in September. You should have no problem...

I called first week in Jan., asked for a date around the 20th and was scheduled for the 19th. I think they try to accomidate for your schedule if at all possible.

Good luck! Your going to love them, they are wonderful and caring people.

I got in as soon as I wanted. I can't remember the exact timing. I emailed back the forms they sent me and we decided on a date. It seems like it was about 2 weeks later.

Are you changing your mind back to Aceves rather than Cirangle?

LOL Dais, you know... it is a really hard decision. I am trying to make the best decision for all kinds of issues I'm having. He right now is in the front running. There are so many factors in play right now.

Especially now since Cirangle had to reschedule me for even two more weeks until my consultation, that did not help his cause.

I'm just covering all my bases before taking that final step. If it means anything at all, I'm actually going out of my way to get passports, etc. :) Just in case I say, "Lets do this", I will be prepared to go.

You have been super SUPER helpful with Aceves information!! (((hugs)))

I wanted a "last week of august" date because then I get a "free" extra day off for labor day the following monday. I got 8/30/10...whoo hoo!

I booked with them on 5/26. My surgery was 5 days later on 5/31. I asked for a 'soon as possible date' because we were going on vacation the end of June and I wanted my incisions to be healed.

I called in December for a Jan date and the only thing that slowed me down was getting my passport and loan money. They told me they could get me in earlier than I asked for.

Good Luck

Great thanks all for your responses! I have been in contact with his coordinators and I was thinking mid to late September. They said that would be no problem at all. No exact date as yet since Dr. A still needs to look over my medical forms.

Good luck everyone!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
