Globetrotter 1,340 Posted August 16, 2010 I am starting my 5th week post-op. Last night I peeled an orange and "ate" it. That is to say, I chewed and sucked all the juice out of each section before spitting out the fiberous pulp. It just felt wonderful to put something fresh in my mouth but I was worried about whether my stomach can handle the pulp. So what is the verdict on seedless fruits and veggies? I know we are supposed to reserve room for Protein but if I hit my protein quota for the day, can I have a bite of apple - no skin - chewed to mush? Melon? A seeded peeled slice of cucumber, also chewed to puree? Pickles? steamed stir-fry vegetables with a trickle of soy sauce? I'm just getting tapped out on tuna salad and boiled eggs but still unsure of what the stomach can handle. Thanks!
Tiffykins 673 Posted August 16, 2010 My program didn't allow any raw fruit or veggies for 3 months with the exception of watermelon. Most veggies and some fruit are very stringy(?) with high cellulose counts, apparently it's difficult for the tummy to move those type of foods early out. I steamed and boiled all my veggies and steered clear of most fruits because of the high sugar content. That is just my personal choice on the fruit. It's just because I was strict with my carb and sugar counts. Once I did start having fruits, I stuck to the mixed fruit snack packs. The ones sweetened with splenda in their own juice, not the yummy ones in heavy Syrup.< /span>
