Folding Sheets, or, My Idea Of Hell

Recommended Posts

:behindsofa:Now no food thrown my direction....

Hubby does the laundry...LOL whoever is watching tv at night upstairs gets the laundry... And ya know I am on the puter, so up he goes :whoo: You see (start Mission Impossible theme) :spy: it is my evil plot of converting all people I live with into esclavos!!! LOL it is sick, I am sick, :loco: do they have a support group for this sort of thing???? So I maybe do a load of laundry once a month and cook a few meals.... But I do clean the bathrooms and the dishes and take care of the dogs. *sigh* now if I could train him to scrub the toilet life would be PERFECT!!!!! LMAO :becky:

Kathy, I loved the photo of Rachel's room. I too have a fashionista (11)who changes clothes several times a day, and who once refused to leave the house because her jacket was green but not the right green. It drives me nuts that she leaves her clothes all over the floor.

I love folding towels -- so satisfyingly in order when I'm done. I loathe folding my husbands t-shirts.

Another rant I'd like to hear about from you. I like for my family to use a towel 2 or 3 times before I wash it. After all, it's a clean towel used to dry off a clean body, so it doesn't get dirty. This has the happy side effect of decreasing the laundry. My husband, however, insists on a new towel every shower.(Grrr) At least he hangs them up to dry. My daughter uses 2 (1 body, 1 hair), and drops them in a wad on her bedroom floor, where they stay damp until someone (read me) picks them up and dries them out.

Okay, I'll admit...I use the towel once. I used to use it more than once, but I really like a nice fresh clean one, and I think about how I used the old one to dry off between my butt cheeks, no matter how clean they were! and I can't...I just want a new one! LOL

Hubby uses his towel 2-3 times. He'd probably use it more if I didn't change it out for him!

And the wad of wet towel on the floor...grrrrrr! She's only 6. She used to be too short to hang it up herself, but she's old enough now she can hang that wet towel up. OH, and the kids definately use their towels more than once.

Wow, sitting here thinking about how we do things in our house, I'm just a regular ole Towel Diva! This goes here and that goes there and this is why and that's just how it is!!!!!! So there! I'm the Momma. LOL

I so hate windows (and Mirrors) But I discovered the one and only cleaner that I trust. Ready for the inside info..???

Cornstarch mixed in Water and sprayed on from the old Windex bottle that was used up. Spray and wipe with an old terry towel and you have a non-streaked surface.

(My husband calls it window gravy.) Try it, you will like it! I want to see the comments after you all try this ....It is truly amazing!

I just had to share this with my Lapband buddies.

PS. this mixture does not keep so throw it out after use and remake next time!

You guys have me laughing!!! Back many (make that many, many) years ago, my Mom got tired of my brother and I using towels and leaving them wadded up on the floor. She did not have a problem with us using a fresh towel for our shower, however she wanted me to re-use one for a couple of times for my hair. As kids tend to do we ignored her. Come in one night, ready to shower, and found the linen closet locked with a cable like bicycle lock! If we wanted a towel, the only ones available to us were the damp, yucky ones. The biggest surprise of all was Mom stuck to her guns....she would NOT give in, and she always caved!! We thought surely the next day she would give in, but nope...she held strong! Later that night Dad had to cut the lock off, she found it in the garage, locked it on, and no one knew the combination! No wonder she was feeling so unbendable!!! Years later, my own made me want to lock the cabinets!!! To this day, I have a fresh bath towel daily, but use a towel for my hair 2-3 times between washings. Maybe I should call and tell her! Think I will call and razz her about the lock just for a good laugh with her!!

Hey Kat - locking the towel cabnet is a good one. It reminded me of the time I didnt clean my bathroom after the MANY demands from my parents to do it.

Came home late one night to find a pad lock on my bathroom door! The entire bathroom - not just the cabnet - locked tight.

*Memories* ((or maybe we're giving ideas??))

And yes, in our house we use our towel more then once.

I gave up folding sheets and roll them into oblong tubes which I stack in a bathroom pantry-thing. I do not have a washer/dryer in my tiny house so I still go to the laundromat but only once a month. If need be I get out the ol' scrubboard and wash out a few things by hand.

I hate housework...I have always hated it. So now that I live in one of the poorest countried of the world, I have a social responsibility to hire help. So I have a housekeeper. But here's the weird thing - I used to change towels daily. Now I use 1-2 towels a week. When they Iron the towels to kill the eggs (that hatch into itchy bugs), they stink! After a day or so use, the smell is gone. My clothes stink too. They smell like burnt cloth. This is one thing I haven't complained about before and won't do again but sometimes on Sunday, I need to *****.

For everyone who hates housework:

Go to flylady.com and check out her system for staying on top of housework.

Now, pleas for help: Does anyone have a creative idea for getting an 11-year-old to put her clothes away instead of leaving them on the floor?

And do you have a creative idea for getting all of us to quit piling clutter on the dining room table?

As for clutter piles? I decided to let it go. Clutter piles. Flylady calls them hotspots. I can't live without my hotspots! BUT! What I have learned from her is to deal with the hotspots every day. The dealio for me is to allow a guilt-free hotspot or two, but deal with them. The one in the kitchen gets dealt with daily. The one in the office gets dealt with weekly. I refuse to whine or complain. I decided to embrace my hotspots and take care of them, for they must be precious, indeed, right?

As for your daughter, maybe make the clothes pile part of her evening routine? Have her make a list of the things she needs to do every evening. She can toss clothes all day, but she HAS to put them ALL up before bed. Would that work? My daughter is only 6, so she's only as good about this as I am. :omg:

I try to FLY every day. I jump in every day. I do what I can and don't beat myself up when it isn't perfect. Noone is.

Don'tcha hear me preachin' to myself?!!! :amen:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
