Well, I am on day 6 of my liquid diet. I have lost 16 lbs. I can't tell but my clothes are fitting differently. I am extremely happy about that. I can honestly say I did not cheat. It was really hard on Monday and Tuesday but now I am used to it. I drink alot of Water and unsweetened tea. Creamed strained Soups, Protein shakes, broth and sugar free popsicles aren't too bad in satisfying hunger and the need to snack. Staying really busy helps too!!!

I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am on Monday. Really excited and getting a lil nervous.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!!!!! :biggrin0:

That's impressive...I don't find the post-op liquid diet to be that hard, but I don't think I would've been able to do a pre-op liquid diet...I wanted to kill everyone in my path that one day before surgery where I had to fast for my blood tests, lol.

hi everyone,

I'm kind of in the same situation - I'm on day two of seven for my liquid pre-op diet. Going a little crazy emotionally, and my stomach is rumbling, but it gets better if I make sure to have a Protein shake every 3 hours or so...otherwise I get quite crabby. I have to make it until Friday!! Wish me luck!

Im finding it might be much easier for me to go on liquid diet now knowing that most of you have been told you need to be on it for week or longer, mine is only 3 days prior to surgery which i guess is nothing.

I had to be on mine for a week. All I could have were Protein shakes with 14 grams of sugar or less, low Fat cream Soups strained, broth, Water with sugar free drop ins, unsweet tea and coffee, and sugar free popsicles. I could have all of those that I wanted so I was never hungry. I ate or drank until I was satisfied. I did 3 shakes a day and a can of Soup at lunch and broth at night if I had the urge to eat. If I felt I needed a snack at night I ate a popsicle. I kept my self really busy so I wouldn't think about food.

It is not easy because you want everything you didn't eat the week before. I craved a pbj for the first 2 days.

Anyone who is on a liquid or getting ready to start hang in there. It really is not as bad as it seems.

Many Blessings to All!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
