DallMike 0 Posted August 12, 2010 Protein, protein. I am a carnivore ending 5 weeks and after I get my protein in I've maxed on calories and being full for the day. I'm having cravings for green Beans, peas, beans, corn on the cob, salads. I'm getting obsessed and feeling deprived. Today I had one scrambled egg, a piece of deli ham, a Protein Shake, 4oz lean sirloin, and 4oz hamburger patty. Total about 820 calories. Any advice?
Tiffykins 673 Posted August 13, 2010 Eat some green Beans as long as you're cleared per your surgeon's guidelines. I firmly believe that our bodies tell us what we need. I eat an entire meal of veggies for one of my meals. It's different me at goal, I know, but a few tablespoons of greens won't hurt you, and your colon will thank you ! ! ! DallMike 0 Posted August 13, 2010 Thanks Tiffykins. I'm gonna try some things this weekend. Guidelines say I'm ok, but haven't had my 6 week clearance yet. I can't wait to tear into a Wendy's salad!
Papillon 7 Posted August 13, 2010 I am with Tiffy... if your body is asking for veggies, eat some. (pending Dr. OK) also make sure you are getting your Vitamins in... after surgery this is crucial.
Tiffykins 673 Posted August 14, 2010 Thanks Tiffykins. I'm gonna try some things this weekend. Guidelines say I'm ok, but haven't had my 6 week clearance yet. I can't wait to tear into a Wendy's salad! I have become a total salad snob. Well, I was before surgery, but now it's worse. I won't even eat romaine anymore. It's gotta be spinach or other hearty, nutrient rich lettuce for it to cross my lips. Spinach is a high Iron food, and it's great for use sleevesters. DallMike 0 Posted August 14, 2010 That's funny. I discovered fresh spinach 6 months ago. I was loading my Subway sandwich up with it. I think that's what I've been missing, not the sandwich, but the spinach. I started making my own salads with about half spinach.

Tiffykins 673 Posted August 15, 2010 Can we eat raw veggies at 5 weeks? I thought raw veggies were a 3 month thing... Every surgeon and nut is different, but I've seen a lot of people's guidelines require the 3 month rule. My program didn't allow raw fruits, veggies or any type of nut until after 3 months post-op. DallMike 0 Posted August 16, 2010 Yes, I think mine is 3 mos too. It's just sad that I starting loving fresh spinach before my surgery and now I can't have any.:sad0: Tried some green Beans, pinto Beans, and a few small bites of mashed pototoes with a hidden jalapeno without serious damage. Feel a little better. I did make one big mistake! I wish I could blame it on my wife, but it was all me...She made some homemade plain popovers. GOD they smelled up the house. I was weak and ate one.:001_tt1: I heard other sleevers talk about dumping and didn't believe it. We're not RNYers. Well...I got lightheaded, and weak and was down for the count. I had to lay down for about an hour.:svengo:Breadlovers beware!!!
Carrie 4 Posted August 29, 2010 Mike you sound just like me a Texan who loves meat and potatoes. I'm happy you are able to move along in your diet. It's supposed to be rare for someone to experience dumping but apparently it happens. I know my sleep medicine knocks me out quicker than ever now. I slept with my glasses on last night!
