I am now three weeks post-op and I still have a "gripey" stomach. I don't have any pain in the incision area. However I cannot tolerate even drinking Water. Anything I put in my mouth makes my tummy queasy and unsettling. Is this normal? I am not able to get all of my Protein in nor my liquid. I am trying my best but my stomach is in knots at all times. I wake up and it feels good and as soon as I put something in my mouth I get that unsettling feeling in my tummy and it usually last all day long. I am starting to get nervous and I am thinking that this is what I am going to have to live with the rest of my life and it is putting me in a state of depression. Please someone tell me that this is normal and that it will go away. I have lost 30 pounds and I am happy about that however I can't take this "gripey" feeling forever.

I had the same problem and yes it gets better. It just takes longer for some. Try Drinking something warm in the am, this will relax your stomache. Hot camimile tea or broth worked for me. Also try not drinking fluids that are cold, room temp worked better for me.

Hope you feel better soon.

Update, I called my Doctor at Vnderbilt and he said this was not normal to come to the ER at Vanderbilt. I went on Friday night they kept me the whole weekend trying to find out what was wrong with me. I started throwing up anything I put in my mouth. They did a dye test on me and they found out that I did not have a leak nor did I have an obstruction in my stomach. They really do not know what is wrong with me. They sent me home with phenegran and hydro codein pills. Has anyone else had this problem. They said if it is not better within one week they are going to do a scope. I feel terrible and just want some answers.

Your not alone I have the same problem. And I am scared I will have to live like this for the rest of my life to. I told my doctor today I am not loving my sleeve. He told me in two weeks if things do not get better I will have to be scoped to and I do not want that.

I all ready had a leak test last week which came out ok. They do not know what is wrong with me. But I can say today I have been able to keep down my little meat and liquids. When i do eat now my stomach gets so up set but when I lay down it starts to go away. I hope for both of us we get over what ever we have and can go on to be happy with out choice of surgery.

Are you on an acid reducer like Nexium or Prilosec? Many posters have said that helps a great deal with nausea. Also, you might ask your doctor for an anti-nausea med? Some sleeves are just cranky and need help to get calm.

As other posters have also said, try different temps, peppermint tea (very soothing on the tummy), chamomile tea.

I hope this helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
