Roblynn54 0 Posted June 13, 2006 My son does have restriction. He can't eat bread or rice and yaks (family word for throws up) when he eats too fast or too much. He was banded Aug 18, 2005. His goal is to lose 100 pounds before getting a fill. He has the large VG band. He was 413 pounds at surgery (he is 6ft 5in). He has gone from waist of 50 to 40. He is doing great. Teerock 0 Posted June 15, 2006 I was banded in July of 2005 and I've lost 98 pounds without a fill. I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow for a follow-up and I am strongly considering a fill. I still have restriction, however, I notice a difference in my portions. I could probably use one now....still deciding because I'm scared to death!!! Tired_Old_Man 1 Posted June 15, 2006 I would assume that some bands go on tighter than others. Some bands may do little without liquid inside, while others may have a restrictive effect without liquid. It is not a matter of liquid inside or not, it is a matter of "does it restrict you from over-eating?" See if you are losing weight at a rate that satisfies the doctor. Let him decide. There is nothing to fear. Although some of us have had problems with fills, I am sure we are a small minority. Some of us had no problems until after our first or second fill, because the filing was too aggressive.
