Cleosan52 6 Posted August 12, 2010 5' 4" here and I'm at 317 now. I have my appt end of the month and I have to lose 10% of my excess wt before surgery I'm a newbie on the board too
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted August 13, 2010 I'm only 5'2" on a good day ! ! ! Being short really has it's advantages once you lose your weight, seriously, people think I am so "petite and tiny". I've never been called tiny in my life, and it's kind of crazy when I look at my before pictures. . . Plus, being short makes buying jeans in smaller sizes so much easier. Skinny jeans come in the perfect length for us vertically challenged ! ! ! Haha!! I already get the short jokes all day long from the giant soldiers and former soldiers I work with, I'm sure those will only get "worse", lol! Another plus to us shorties is that capri pants are the perfect length and don't have to be hemmed!!:001_wub:
Ellisa 6 Posted August 13, 2010 Haha!! I already get the short jokes all day long from the giant soldiers and former soldiers I work with, I'm sure those will only get "worse", lol! Another plus to us shorties is that capri pants are the perfect length and don't have to be hemmed!!:001_wub: Amen on the capri's! I'm 5'3" even petites are too long sometimes. One day a young man commented that my "pants were a little to short." I said "you mean LONG, don't you?" "No SHORT!" Hey Buddy, THESE are capris!" We both laughed... but I retired my "pants." Too lazy to hem them.
SleeveDivaNoire'11 0 Posted August 14, 2010 Here's another heavyweight! I am "glad" to see these posts because sometimes I have felt the same way. I am 5'6" (maybe 5'7" with the chunky soles now. LOL), 307 lbs. My goal is to lose 157-167 lbs. I lost 7 last week due to illness. It's bad to be happy your sick 'cause that has been the only effective form of temporary wt loss! I started gaining about 10 yrs ago and lost my 'true' self in the process. I am in the 3rd month of a six month insurance-required monitoring thing. So I hope I will have surg in Dec. or Jan. Lookinupin2010 0 Posted August 14, 2010 Just take a peek at my stats....still have 120 lbs to go, and have already lost 85 lbs. No 'light weight' here.
CraftyChristie 62 Posted August 15, 2010 Hiya! I started at 310 with a goal weight of 160 so that's 150 lbs to lose. I feel the same way, a lot of people have a lot less to lose. Someone who started around my time has lost about as much as me but they are close to goal now. Nothing against her or anyone else who is a lighterweight than me but yes it does feel like it's really different! I'm here if you wanna chat about anything! Go Kart Mozart 44 Posted August 15, 2010 I'm 5'7" and the date of my initial consult (5/12/10) I was at a personal high of 332, so I had to lose 147 lbs. to get to my goal. I'm down 47 lbs. since that day, so I'm on my way. You're definitely not alone.
Lillie24 2 Posted August 15, 2010 Another heavyweight here!!! I started at 365 and I am at 298 right now. I still have about 138 - 145 to lose.
possumtrot 2 Posted August 15, 2010 I started out wanting to lose 120 lbs, so I'd say that qualifies me in the heavyweight category too. Got soooooo excited to get the bmi out of the morbidly obese category to just regular old obese. Overweight category here I come, lol. My guess is that there are more heavyweights getting this surgery than there are lightweights, although I am happy for the lw's that they are able to "nip it in the bud" before they get to that morbidly obese category! lost 0 Posted August 16, 2010 Hi,I totally understand... surgery day weigh in 358 (feb.7,2010) today 250(aug.15,2010)that's 108 lost and 80 pounds to go (goal 170) just hitting the 6 month mark and afraid my losing will stop !
deletedsally 8 Posted August 16, 2010 Heavyweight Kathy checking in...I haven't been on the board much for the last couple weeks because my adult daughter, her husband, and their 2 children (2 & 4) moved in with me two weeks ago. Needless to say, my life has changed drastically, and it seems like I'm fortunate to find time to even shower. Anyway, my highest weight was 283. I originally had a goal of 140, but I changed it to 155 because I carry so much of my weight in my belly and I know from a previous weight loss that most of my body was extremely thin at 140, but I still had a hanging apron that will require abdominoplasty if I want to have a normal shape. My guess is that they will need to remove a minimum of 10-15 pounds from my abdomen, and that I may not need to lose as much from the rest of my body to be at a healthy weight once I have had surgery to remove the excess tissue on my belly. I'm going to consult with a plastic surgeon when I get to around 175 and get his opinion before I finalize a goal. You are not alone. Sometimes it feels overwhelming when I think about how much I need to lose--but the weight is coming off and I am grateful for every lost pound...
