All pre op should watch this video

Recommended Posts

This is not me or the dr I went to or even the hospital I went to BUT I was amazed on just how much a like my trip to Mexico was with this video. Honestly if I had video taped my trip; 95% would have matched this youtube clip! I wish I had seen this before I went since it would have answered a lot for me and calmed my fears. SO I'm sharing it with all of you!!

Wow! This is great! I hope my surgery is just as uneventful & successful! I'd love to hear from others as to whether this was their experience or close to it :-)

looks good! the only thing that still scares me is the anesthesia, that I won't be able to relax enough or somehow won't stay under. But that's largely just because I've never had surgery of any kind before. Damn these nerves!

The drain removal looked a little ungainly to me too. Do they numb that area or do you feel a big tube sliding outta your abdomen? yech.

I was freaking out about the drain and kept talking to him while he was looking at it. I was so busy freaking out that he was done before I even knew he started lol..

I work at the hospital with total knees and total hips that always have a drain. Most people always tell me it wasn't as bad as they thought it would be.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
