Ihave6kids 29 Posted August 10, 2010 When I see the weight loss from everyone it is hard to not be discouraged. I had my sleeve on July 16th. So now its been 3 and half weeks. I've only lost 13 lbs. I did lose 7 lbs pre-op. I;ve always been a slow loser no matter what diet I've been on but I thought this would be different. I eat between 600-800 calories a day. Anyone else like this? I need some encouragement.
Qured 3 Posted August 10, 2010 Have you ever lost this kind of weight in 3,5 weeks? How much have you got to lose? Larger people tend to lose more in the beginning.

Garyb_58 1 Posted August 10, 2010 Julie, I only averaged 15 pounds a month after the first big loss and I had a lot of weight to lose. It will happen and it will off before you know it. Keep working the sleeve Gary
stcyt 15 Posted August 10, 2010 Julie, I'm a slow looser too. Its so hard sometimes. I don't know what your BMI is but I have noticed something on the tickers of people who got sleeved at the same time I did. Just about all of us are right at or just under half way there. If someone had 200 lbs to loose they have lost about 100 and I had 57 to loose and have lost about 30. It appears that no matter what we weigh... we will all likely hit our goal about the same time. Its a percentage of body weight thing. I know its frustrating... there are days when I want to scream (I'm in a stall right now and having those days pretty often) In the end though, for all my flailing about and worrying.... I'll end up at goal right when I'm supposed to. Stacey
MINI-Me 196 Posted August 10, 2010 The advice about is very good. It takes time. Many people slow down around week 3 as their bodies are adjusting to losing the weight. Did you take measurements pre-surgery? If so, take them again and compare. If not, do it right now. You will be amazed at the difference you'll see in a few weeks from now. Saying that we've all been there, did that doesn't help a lot right now ... but believe me, we've been EXACTLY where you are right now in some form or fashion. You will make your goals if you follow the plan your surgeon made for YOU! Best of luck!
Ihave6kids 29 Posted August 10, 2010 Thanks for the encouragement. My BMI was 36. I have 63 lbs left to lose. I guess it is more than I normally lose in this time period. I guess I just needed to vent. Thanks or listening.
Lillie24 2 Posted August 11, 2010 I think your doing great. Things will seem more steady after a month. That is how things happened for me. But at the same time, I had ALOT more to lose and that has alot to do with it. Keep your head up and realize it is a new way of life. You just have to keep going and believe that it will happen for you.
Lori21769 14 Posted August 11, 2010 I am a slow loser. I was looking at this site, and how fast people were losing and feeling like a complete failure. You can't compare yourself with anyone else. We are all different. I am 4 months out and have lost 55 lbs. That is a lot less than many people I see on here- but my doctor is happy, and I should be too. Besitos 0 Posted August 11, 2010 Julie-- I can empathize with your frustration but it will happen. Just do what you have to do: keep up your Protein, drink your H2O and exercise!!! You have no way to go but DOWN! Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:

Lori, I have figured out my purpose in life: To make you and everyone else on this board feel better about their weight loss! I am a week short of five months out and have lost just a tiny bit more than 30 pounds. So you are WAY ahead of me!! We all start out in different places, we are all different ages and sizes and activity levels and metabolisms, and we are all going to get to our goal at different times. I only lost 1.4 pounds in July and was horribly discouraged, but my weight loss has picked up again and I am determined not to compare myself to others and to enjoy the ride instead of spending my whole weight-loss period (however long or short that may be) being unhappy and frustrated! Anybody care to join me? :crying:
MINI-Me 196 Posted August 11, 2010 Are there any tickers that sow % of weight lost? That would be a nice equalizer for us to use. Lightweights may appear to lose pounds slower, but really they are losing at the same percentage.
Lori21769 14 Posted August 12, 2010 Thanks! I really appreciate the encouragement. I started with a BMI of 43, so not a lightweight.
ouroborous 519 Posted August 12, 2010 It's really, really important not to compare your process with others, as that will just discourage you. Make sure that you're losing, but over the long term -- don't weigh yourself ANY more frequently than once a week, and even that is pushing it (every other week or once a month would be better). Water weight gains can easily swallow week-to-week fluctuations. In the end, just focus on the fact that you ARE losing and it's a healthy loss. You'll get there, even if it's not right this instant.
