I haven't made any Soup in about a week as I was growing a touch weary of it. We made a big batch of the White chicken Chili instead. I think it's time for the soup again...I like having it available when I want it.

Does it freeze ok?

I am down about 21 lbs since I started around 4 weeks or so ago.

I am alternating lifting weights and aerobic exercise on alternating days...with an hour or so of mall walking added in when possible.

I made a pot of veggie/chicken Soup, without the chicken chunks. I added the green Beans, some potatoes, a few tomatoes (not too many cause i can't take all the acid) and some brown rice. Boiled it up and it was soooooo good. the veggies and potatoes and stuff just turned to mush, so it is easy to eat. I poured it all into a bunch of 1.5 cup containers I got from Walmart (pack of 5 for 1.99 i think) and froze most of it. kept 3 in the fridge, and some on the stove for today. That should keep it all from going bad. It was a HUGE pot of soup.

I didn't add all the veggies cause i am slowly trying to see what is working with my band and what isn't. this soup works well. I made a pot of the regular recipe before, but did not eat any of the veggies. just the broth.< /p>

You know, I've been reading this thread from the very beginning, and I'm so dying to join the Soup train... My situation. We're travelling over Canada and the US in an RV, we've been travelling for 3 months now, and we're not going to be settling down any time soon. We've gone gypsy. The RV is small, just a 22 footer, with a small kitchen, small fridge, small stove, small cupboards.. you get the picture. I just don't have room to make and keep the soup, I'd have to cook only a days worth at a time!!!! argh! LOL, anyways. I've book marked the link to the diet, I keep reading the thread.. and one of these days...

XO

I know this post was started forever ago but thank youuuu funny for letting us all know about this diet! I've just used the Soup recipe and ate it for lunch and Snacks and have a healthy supper... and i must say it is delicious! My parents are sneaking bowlfulls out when they think my back is turned!

The best part for me is that i never eat vegetables and this is a FAB way of making sure i eat lots of them!

So, i've boarded the soup train! I have my ticket ready for inspection and i'm looking forward to arriving at my destination with all my beautiful lbt friends!

Best wishes to all

CHOOO CHOOOOOO!!! Ok...conductor is back. Who is doing the Soup with me? I am going out this weekend to replenish my stock. I have to say I am brilliant (in my own mind) for learning to freeze bandster portions of this and keeping it around for a quick snack and full meals. I am doing 6 meals a day, and this soup is perfect for one or many of my meals. I have also added Protein Powder to the soup to make sure that i am getting a good amount of Protein into each serving.

How is everyone doing? I know that I have lost a lot, and am keeping it off, unlike what most of the nay-sayers have said would happen. So how is it going for you?

I haven't been using it to lose weight any more than with my daily diet. But I've made the Soup, put some lean roast beef into it for Protein and frozen it in reasonable portions so that I may eat it for lunch at work with crackers.

It's delicious and I can't believe that I haven't gotten really tired of eating it. Other than the lean roast beef, I left the recipe as is so it's a really low cal/low fat lunch.

I'm not gonna discuss my weight loss. I'm still stuck, but until Friday I was too tight and ice cream was my friend.

I am done with the soup for a while. It got old for me quickly....maybe again in a few months once in a while.

I made a huge pot last night. Eating some now. I bought a bunch of Schwan's mix veggies bags and dumped it into the pot along with some shredded chicken and a couple of cups of rice. Let it cook all night. It is so good this morning and this afternoon. and the bags of mixed veggies were so nice an easy! No cutting! LOL thank you schwans!!

I started this Soup diet today. I have been at a standstill with the weight for a few days and I thought what better time than fall/winter to give this a try?:hungry: It tasted pretty good and it is filling, so far. I have only been able to eat 2 small bowls today since I am still kinda heavily restricted.

Anyone else still doing this diet?:cry

Hey Housecat that sounds like a good idea, Soup. I have my own version but it is still less calories then if I ate some other stuff. Thanks for the reminder.

Hey there,

It just started getting chilly here in New England so I have started doing alot more Soup. Which is good, because I am very sensitive to my fills and tend to stay on a mushy/liquid diet for several weeks. I have been doing something similar to this, I found it on IVillage and it is Good Houskeeping's Soup Diet (www.villageonadiet.com). I find it very filling and I spice up the soup with different things so I don't get bored. Everything from Beans to kelbasi(turkey) to tofu. I am on the road for work all day, so it is really easy to fill a thermos with some soup and sip my day away knowing I am eating well.

To those of you souping it up, that villageondiet website has some great ways to make the soup different...like a fish chowder version and a curry chicken. It is a great resource for soup lovers.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
