when did you slow down or stall for good?

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be my 7 month mark of being sleeved!!!! I have gone from about 252 (day of surgery) to 162!!!! that's 90lbs in 7 months! I am very very happy and very very proud! I would do it all over again in a heart beat!

but my weight loss has stalled, almost stopped the last 3 to 4 weeks. the scale only seems to go up or down 2(+or-)lbs. it's very frustrating. i have NOT been a carb counter. i eat everything, just in small amounts, and make healthy choices, like i always have. i still have trouble getting 64oz of Water in. but i digress. for those of you that are 1+ years out....when did you stall/stop? is this normal? will i continue losing? is there some sorta 6 month stall that happens that i don't know about? i know everyone will give me the advice; lots of Water, watch the carbs and sugar, stay active etc etc. but i'm just a little concerned. i now eat about 1000-1200 calories/day. is that too much? i get really hungry if i only eat 800 (i'm proof that the hunger DOES come back). is it normal that my hunger came back so soon?

anyways, i know 90lbs is a great loss. but i am still a size 12/14 and can't buy a lot of the clothes i would like to buy :-( i'm hoping if i lose another 20lbs i could be a size 10...maybe!

can anyone give me some insight or support? i would love some feedback!

Hi Megan,

I'm in almost the same shoes. I have lost 93 pounds and wow has the loss slowed! Like I hit a brick wall. I too started with close to your numbers; 254 and now 161. I'm 5'7". My goal is 150 but it might be awhile at this rate! That said, I'm pretty happy where I'm at but I refuse to give up and it is still coming off just verrrrry slowly - less than a pound a week (or less) now. I am in a sz 8, however, so I'm happy about the clothes situation.

In fact, I'm more determined than ever to get at least to a normal BMI (159) - only 2 pounds to go...! I have been watching carbs but that seems to not be working so well anymore even though I have been religious about staying at or less than 30 per day. I think it's the exercise; the hub and I ride our bikes like maniacs 70+ miles per week. Recently I upped my carbs to about 50-60 (good carbs, veg, etc., still won't touch bread, white stuff) and have started watching the fat which has been over 100 for the most part... Things seem to be moving ever so slightly again.

The bad news is; I think you are going to have to work harder now more than ever if you want to reach goal. What are you doing for exercise? I know you are aware of your calorie count but what does it consist of?

I use myfitnesspal.com religiously - it's an eye opener and keeps me honest without a doubt. I'm up to about 1200 calories a day too, sometimes more - this is why I've started watching the fat a little closer while upping the carbs a bit. I need the energy.

btw, I too have been dealing with hunger from the beginning and still do. I tried to get off my ppi a couple of months ago and got back on... grrr!

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you want to talk more.

C

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
