Birth Control/pregnancy/vaca temptations!

Recommended Posts

Ok so im coming up on my 3 months and was wondering if its ok to start birth control? I had a little scare :scared0:and was also wondering what would happen if the pregnancy card did come about? Does anyone know the risks or if it has happened to anyone before? Just curious!!

-On another note I have been on vaca now 5 days and I am going CRAZY with no scale. I feel like im gaining weight and not knowing for sure is making me nutty. My food schedule is out of wack and I know im not getting in all my Protein. Plus being around a huge family with nothing but junk food, pizza, Bagels, chips , cakes:drool5: OMG everything horrible to eat is not helping me. It is making vaca VERY difficult. I find myself nibbling little bites of different things each day. Its so hard to resist and so sad to say but I CANT WAIT TO GO HOME. ( To get away from all these temptations.)

I dont see why you cant start birthcontrol now my doc said that I never have to stop taking it. I'm sorry for all your temptations just try to keep your mind on your goal when you are around them and if you do happen to gain a little dont be to hard on your slef just gwet back on track when you get home!

I was told to start BC immediately as this losing phase makes you super fertile.

My recommendation is to get something right away.

I laughed when I read you were going crazy without a scale while on vacation. I can so relate!! We spent a week at the beach this summer and I was going nuts. I finally made my husband go with me to a Walmart one evening (it was close by but I would never shop at a Walmart!) because I knew they would have some scales and I could weigh myself. I surprised myself and lost weight while we were at the beach. Hope you have a great time!

i can't believe how all the doctors do things differently. my doctor didn't require that i stop my birth control pills before surgery. i took them like normal. however, i just got an IUD put in on friday so i dont have to worry about the pills anymore.

Just check with your doctor about which bc option will work best for you.

For the pregnancy, the number one priority is to get out of ketosis. Meaning you have to eat a more balanced diet with carbs and stop the high or only Protein immediately. Ketosis can cause fetal brain issues, and is very dangerous. The baby will get what it needs from the mother's body. The key is feed your body to ensure you do not suffer from the baby draining everything out of your system.

As for vacation, relax. You can get back on program when you get home. Stressing about it now isn't going to help you right now. Believe naturally skinny people vacation, and enjoy treats here and there. Remember, this surgery and lifestyle is about a lifetime commitment not just while we're home, and trying to get to goal. You'll do great, just enjoy vacation and worry about the other stuff after you get home.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
