Poodles 0 Posted June 6, 2006 Ok, so I was banded yesterday. Last night and this morning my tummy is growling. Dr. B put me on broth and Water and gatorade for two days, yesterday and today. I am sip sip sipping broth right now to try and calm the rummblie in my tummy, but don't know what else to do. Is the growling normal? Do I need to worry? Is it as bad as getting sick? I am just worried that the "movement" will make my band slip or something.
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted June 6, 2006 Yeah my tumbly was rumbly for quite a while. It took a couple months for my tum to figure out what was going on. I'd be eating (drinking actually) while my tum rumbled. Your body just has to adjust to this new thing, give it time. Congrats on being banded! Oh and I found that warm stuff helped the rumblies the best. Just keep doing what you are doing, keep sip sip sipping along!
gentlespirit 1 Posted June 6, 2006 Yep, it's totally normal! My family used to laugh at me when they could hear it all the way across a room! It will settle down before too long, although after 4 months it still happens to me occasionally. Emily
Marimaru 7 Posted June 6, 2006 I'm nearly 2 years out and my tummy still likes to join the conversation. It's not nearly so bad now, but every now and then it has something to say, lol.
LapBandit 5 Posted June 6, 2006 First of all...congrats on the band! I have never been able to hear my tummy growl until after surgery. It growls so loud now but I think it's funny. So far I haven't heard that this is a sign of anything wrong. I guess as long as you feel OK then I wouldn't worry. You're just another growler now!!
MelodyJ 0 Posted June 6, 2006 I agree w/ everyone else....NORMAL!!!! I was never like this pre-band....and it did settle way down after I started eating food. I had to remind myself that it wasn't hunger...just fussing as it felt different!! ALso I can now belch better than some men!!!!!!!!!! My mom will fall over if she ever hears it....trained ladies didn't do this!! :Banane35: And the other end now makes music routinely...... bandtastic 0 Posted June 7, 2006 My stomach growls alot tooo... I like to think of it as my stomach eating the FAT!!! :-) makes me feel better. I think it is all good. It usually happens more after a fill or right when I had the surgery. BUt don't worry... its normal!
Stitchy 0 Posted June 7, 2006 My stomach growls, too. I think it's pretty funny
princess_n_thep 2 Posted June 7, 2006 Get used to it. From now on your stomach can be normally very "vocal".
Poodles 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Thanks all. I think it is pretty weird. I feel totally stuffed up top, but my bottom tummy is growling for food. I have less restriction today (day 4) drank my 6 oz shake in about 30 minutes instead of 2 hours like yesterday. I am totally full though. Just hope I can get my Water in today. I have not been doing a great job of that the past few days. Thanks for the reassurances. I get the growls, and every once in a while I will hiccup (you know those one hiccup hurting things) and I just don't want to pop a stitch, or something. So it is nice to know I am not alone in the tummy growling sector.
niki 1 Posted June 9, 2006 Hi there, congratulations for your band! that's the first step for this long walk that lays ahead of you now. As everybody else mentioned, it's completely normal for your stomach to make all that noise (burping and farting is also a common activity once you get banded  ) but you should try to avoid those hiccups, don't stress out and be gentle to your body and let it heal calmly. keep drinking but always in small sips, take it slowly. niki
shackdog 1 Posted June 9, 2006 Yep, listen to those that have gone before you, welcome to lap band land. The rumbly is a normal thing, and only two days out , wow you have some new things in store for you. My advice, read and learn what to eat and not to eat, dont try anything without first hearing how others have done. This trial and error method is a ...................and if you have a bad experience learn from it. Good luck
Fauxnaif 1 Posted June 10, 2006 I woke up from band surgery sooooooooooooooooooo hungry!!! I eventually went on to lose at least 60 pounds before I got a fill so I did okay! But it seems like not too many people talk about being hungry right after surgery!

I could eat a house! :hungry:
rroswelltx 1 Posted June 10, 2006 oh I am so glad i am not alone. I am only 3 days out from surgery and my tummy has been grumbling constantly. I did try a Protein Drink this morning for the first time and I was miserable for awhile I may have drank it too fast, I drank about 3oz in 30 min. But the rubling in my tummy cause me to be unab;e to go to sleep last night I had yo get up and get some broth for it to settle down, is that wrong?
