I have to completely disagree with that... sorry!! Based on my 16 years of treating this and dealing with patients who have been treated by podiatrists (for a variety of reasons, not just this), I wouldn't let one touch me with a 10-foot pole (they're not doctors any more than chiropractors are), and 90% of the orthotics I've seen them make have been a joke. Please just do yourself a favor and start with your family doctor and physical therapy, and the P.T. can tell you if you need to go to an orthotist to have custom orthotics made for you. You may not, certainly not everyone does.

I read somewhere about someone who had plantar fascaitis. I can't find the post now. I've been having ALOT of pain in my left heel. It keeps me at home when it get really bad. It feels better if I leave my shoes on any time I walk, even around the house.

If anyone has had this, can you tell me what is the treatment. Is this something I should tell my surgeon before he submits my paperwork to the ins co?

My foot doc gave me some stretching exercises to do, these helped quite a bit along with flexing and stretching the foot while lying or sitting down. It does feel alot better with shoes on, but in the mornings and barefooted it really hurts. I've noticed that since i've lost the weight, it's not as horrible, still hurts at times, but not as bad. . . good luck!

I had this too... sucks!! I ended up seeing a podiatrist. he gave me cortizone shots in the heel (they hurt but they work) I also ordered a pair of orthodics through his office. Insurance doesn't cover them unless you are diabetic (luckily I am not) so the cost was about 300.00 but you can get them recovered for around 20 every couple years so it is worth it. I wear them all the time. It makes a huge difference. I also stretch my feet every night and I have a small ergonomic step stool under my desk that I can use to keep my feet at a better angle at work. :mad0:

p.s. cool tip if you rub a bar of soap along the bottom edge of your orthodics they will not squeek in your tennis shoes. :)

You can also go to a pediatrist and he can give you an injection that will make it all OK for a few months. I also had foot inserts made for my shoes. I went back for the shots again and now it seems to be fine. The pain goes away immediately with the shot. Good luck!

The gold standard for treatment of PF is cortisone shots -- in your heel!

If that sounds painful (it did to me), you can try to:

  • Do some stretches specifically designed to improve the pain (google it)
  • Wear orthotic inserts (that's what worked for me, a sole insert called SuperFeet and my PF went away for good)
  • Lose weight!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
