That really says it all. No matter how fat I got I've always had good hair, guess I will be thin and bald. Still wouldn't trade my sleeve for anything, even if it meant a totally bald head for the rest of my days!

Sorry to hear that Anna. Just remember, the hair loss is temporary. The weightloss is FOREVER!!!!

Maybe it's time to make an appointment with a fancy hairstylist that can give you a new look for the new body & help camoflouge the area for now. Spoil yourself rotten!

That is the one thing I have been really scared about since I have decided to have my surgery. So I have been taking pre-natal Vitamins, and Biotin since last October which is when I started the process. I did slack off for a couple of months, but I am back taking them daily. My hair already grows very slow due to my medication. I wont even get my hair cut until after my surgery, which right now looks like it could still be a couple of months. I have been a little bit thankful as in the last month or so my hair has actually growing. :sad0:

I've not yet noticed anything with my hair but its early days, but I have noticed a dramatic change in my nails... they are actually growing for once.. must be all the vits, Protein and biotin!

Likewise tho - I'll trade the slim part for the hair.. theres always wigs!

I know, I know. I have good hair too. But some encouragement here. Mine starting shedding at 4 mos after surgery. And it shed, and shed. My hairdresser and I met at about 5.5 mos and she said it looked like I had lost 20% of hair. I have one baldish spot where a receding hairline would start on the left. But she said absolutely I have little hairs popping up all over my head and my baldish spot is covered in little hairs already.

My hairdresser swears it will come back. I think now it has stopped falling out. She swears it is b/c of surgery in general. I am terrible with my Vitamins and don't do Biotin. And it is STILL coming back.

Hang in there. I don't notice mine anymore.

This part of the journey is really freaking me out! I already have thin hair that seems to be falling out all the time, I figured it was due to my age. I really need to get some Biotin ASAP!

Regardless of protein/vitamin/mineral intake, the shock to the body of any surgery, along with losing massive amounts of weight in short amounts of time, will lead to Hair loss. It's generally temporary, can start around the 3 month mark, and on the improve by 6 months postop.

Yup, I've done all the things that nutritionally are neccesary. And like clock work at 3 months it started. It really is not a biggie. (okay a little bit) But totally worth it.

Try a pretty headscarf?

Also, I wouldn't go as far as shaving your head....oftentimes, a short haircut will provide enough volume that the hair loss is not as obvious. Try cutting your hair short before you take the drastic step of shaving your head.

I did get it cut very short last week. My hairdresser is not able to color it in this condition, so I have lovely gray roots, and short fuzzy hair that I am afraid to touch.

Maybe you can start a new fashion trend! :confused1:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
