Weird thing I noticed about sleeping

Recommended Posts

I am two weeks postop and have lost 19lbs and I can't believe how much better I sleep!!! Before I used to get up 2 or 3 times a night and go to the bathroom and then I tossed and turned all night. Now, when I go to bed I sleep so good and don't get up until morning - and when I wake up I feel great!! I was never tested for sleep apnea, but I knew that I had it as sometimes I would wake up gasping for air. I am pretty sure that must be gone now. Also, I used to drink soda like crazy and I think that not having all of that caffeine in my system is why I am not getting up several times a night to pee. You wouldn't think that just losing a few pounds and making better nutritrional choices would make that much difference, but it has for me. I love my sleeve!!!! :)

Congrats on your weight loss! I noticed the same thing. I used to have to take something to go to sleep and the sleep was never all that restful. Now I love it!

I love MY SLEEVE!

I'm so glad you are doing well with your sleeve. You made me kind of jealous, and I can not remember the last time I slept all night long. I even take this prescribed medicine that is suppose to knock me out but it does not. They say the cpap machine will help, shoot that stupid thing wakes me up in the middle of the night. lol Keep up the good work, and good sleep.< /p>

This was a surprise NSV for me after banding. I was a "healthy" fat person meaning that I had a bmi of *only* 35 (isnt it scary how we accept fat as normal, to me that doesnt seem very big, as everyone is fat these days, but it was), I had no comorbidities, no sleep apnoea. I simply woke uncomfortable many times a night - same as when you're very pregnant and your hips ache from lying on your side, but you cant lie on your back. After about 30lb that went away and I started sleeping just so well, I felt fantastic.

Oh this makes me excited! I hope I start sleeping better post-op!! I sometimes get up several times a night- it's so annoying. I will wake up once and go to the bathroom. Take a small sip of Water then go back to bed. I will wake up 2 hours later having to pee as if I drank the Hoover Damn....what the heck?! :cursing:Here's to hoping my sleeve will help me sleep better!:thumbup1:

Actually I have noticed the same thing about not waking up at 3am to use the bathroom any more post-op--which is kind of weird because I'm drinking more liquids than ever.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
