Hello everyone. My name is Angela and a year ago today I changed my life. I had the sleeve. As of today I have lost a total 74 pounds. I reached my initial goal of 150 about a month ago and now I am 146. My 2nd goal is 140 and I am only 6 pounds away! I am not sure how low I want to get but as of now it's still not a problem to lose. I have not started any exercise regimen this whole time I just eat well when I can and get out more. This surgery has been a complete success for me and I have had no complications. I do not post on here very much but I do linger from time to time for those with questions. Now for some picture whoring!

I've used this one before I don't have much for before.

I guess this is my "official" 1 year picture!

Thank you to everyone that has posted congrats and well wishes. For those whom are pre-op you will succeed because this surgery is a successful one. (of course there are exceptions).

I feel the reasons I have been successful despite not having a set workout regime are:

#1 My soul issue was I ate too much, besides too many carbs I ate pretty well thus the sleeve took care of that main problem.

#2 I was and still am not a sweets person. No addiction to pop or sodas for me. Once I got off the carb craze I felt the benefits of Protein I was hooked. I still have a weakness for garlic bread tho:)

#3 I have not been overweight all my life. Until bad birth control at 15 and pregnancy at 18 I was never overweight my whole life! I came into this world premature and severely underweight actually! I can only imagine how much more difficult it would be if I was at a BMI of 40 since I could remember.

#4 I was 27 when I had my surgery. Not to discourage anyone that is older but you know what they say about age and weight loss.......

Anywho- that's my take on this.

I feel though anyone with a great attitude can achieve success with this surgery. It helps to have a supporting people in your life. I did not get to my goal weight until I was 11 months out so make sure you pack patience! Easier to say then do, I know. Now I have a lot of stomach fat to go and stretched skin so I am still in size 10 even though I am 146. I *think* that wouldn't be so predominant if I worked out. but I know no matter what I'll need a TT. But, I can always try working out and see that's the great thing! Thanks again to all that may read!

-Angela

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
