Hey there!

I thank you for your care and time to post here so as to help me.I called my surgeon today and he said that he took about 60%.He first said ''a little bit more than 50%'' and I asked him to be more specific. He explained than that was a wise decision as I am not a typical case and if he would have taken more,I would have lost too much.

My problem is that I compared my food need and intake to yours and other research I made and I seem to eat much more, but thats normal as my stomach is bigger.

I feel some restriction and I definitely dont eat as before surgery but thats not what I expected.I also wanted to ask you what is normal to eat,Im only 3weeks post op.I have to say that everything goes down well in my case.I dont eat sweets,I only could not resist once but Im trying to stay away now from them. And also would eating fresh vegetables, fruits cause any problems or complications to my operation?

I have to say Im very thankful,You are a group of great people and simply the fact that you take time to read and care for somebody's situation its a great thing to me!

Best wishes !

If you search on here, you will find other plans, but this may help. I would imagine you will need to adjust portions based on your hunger level and goals: http://www.hopkinsbayview.org/bin/c/a/nutrition_sleeve.pdf

Ok, now I understand. 60% of your stomach removed compared to 80% of the stomach removed in my surgery. That does mean that the restriction in how much you eat will be less.

Keeping the carbs down is easier when you cut out the refined sugar and flour. I try to get all my carbs from fresh vegetables and a little fruit (one a day for me). I get most of my Protein from the whey Protein shakes and lean meat.

And I'm doing aerobic exercising to get my heart rate up and SWEAT!

I do want to be supportive to you. It's hard to lose weight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
