Cool Headed 0 Posted July 28, 2010 I am going to have surgery in Jan. or Feb. 2011. I just started my Diet July 7,2010. I want the VSG, however My Doctor informed me Medicare does not pay for VSG. I do not want Gastric Bypass because I am afraid of the malabsorption problem and the dumping sym. I also do not like the intenstine being cut & moved up to the stomach pouch. Does anyone know if Medicare will be approving VSG in 2011?
Cancel 1 Posted July 28, 2010 Medicare starts their coverage changes usually in October. So hopefully by then there should be some new information coming out.
Cool Headed 0 Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks for the info. I am praying that this October Medicare will start approving VSG. My Bariatric Surgeon said VSG will be the number one choice for weight loss surgery. Problem is with Medicare not giving the patient a choice right now. randomletters 0 Posted August 15, 2010 I feel the same way. I don't want RNY becuase they mess with your intestines. I want soooo much to get the sleeve and I'm praying that Medicare will let me. I'll pray for you too :nono:
