Sunshine 1 Posted July 25, 2010 Soooo, I had surgery Monday (6 days ago). Had it a little rough. Esophageal Spasms, my abd has been hurting due to the incisions, slow-going,...etc, etc. I've been sticking to the diet (only cheated 1 time - had a bite of mashed potatoes and mac/cheese ---- both went down fine). My husband works 24-48 hour shifts. He came home this morning and said, "OH MY GOD honey, you look skinnier BIGTIME". Then, my son commented on how I looked skinnier. Which FINALLY gives me some 'hope'. I was getting upset because I felt so bad. I had the "What have I done" feelings, and it just felt like I was going to stay fat forever. My family made me soooo happy. NOW,....my journey can begin. I am finally smiling. All I needed was a little 'something'. Know what I mean?
KathyM 14 Posted July 28, 2010 Yaaay for you Sunshine!! I haven't seen my boyfriend in almost a week because he has been busy farming and when he came over today he said "Oh man, you look REALLY good!" and when he hugged me he said I felt smaller. I have lost 17 lbs, since my surgery and 26 since starting my preop. In the long run it's not much but it felt so good to hear that. I am glad that you are feeling well and happy, just think where you will be by next summer, or for that matter even Christmas of this year!! Kathy
Sunshine 1 Posted July 28, 2010 How awesome for you!!!!!!! ......but why do I feel as though I'm the only one that the surgery isn't going to work for? lol....I must have a distorted mind. And, I haven't weighed since my surgery, so I have no idea how much I've lost.
KathyM 14 Posted July 28, 2010 I think we all have that worry - look at how many times we have tried diets or pills or whatever and hasn't worked......but I truly believe this will!!! For me I have decided that it isn't about a number on the scale or a size of clothing, I just want to feel good and not waste my life thinking about food and eating something. Trust yourself, you can do this!! Kathy
Sunshine 1 Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks Kathy. For some reason, I just have this fear that EVEN THIS won't work. Not sure why. Like I said, I haven't weighed yet since after surgery on the 19th,....I do that tomorrow at the Dr's. But I am soooo scared that I will be that ONE person who only loses 50 pounds or something like that. WHYYYY do I feel that way?
KathyM 14 Posted July 29, 2010 You feel that way because it hurts to fail, especially when it comes to weightloss. You tell yourself ahead of time that you will fail so that when you do you can tell yourself that you knew it would happen. But this time is different! You will can succeed with this! Your new tiny tummy is going to help you do that. The willpower issue is not an issue at this time because you physically CANT eat too much. And as time goes by and you adjust to your new way of eating, the urges for all of those old bad eating habits that we all have will get less and less until one day you will realize that you are in charge of your body, it is not in charge of you! You can to this, I know it. Kathy
