Just found out some bad news......:crying: according to my case worker I can not use Lancaster.... these are my options

van buren office

southbay-

west la-kaiser

crown bariatric

pacific bariatric-

Now I got to research these ones:thumbdown:

Hey I've heard South Bay Harbor City is the BEST! They are one of the best Bariatric facilities nationwide out of 200 hospitals (and there are over 200 hospitals in California alone). They actually end up of fixing all the problem cases from Pacific and Crown. The surgeons are the BEST! It's worth the wait. Of course it's just my opinion...it's ultimately your decision:redface1:.

pacific bariatric will be at the anaheim plaza hotel tomorrow at 5:30pm for those who are interested or just for info. they will give you the packet of everything you need to return to them to get a consult down in San Diego and then a referral number to see the surgeon. I will be there with bells on (not really - just excited)

When was the last date of your Options class?

There will be those to say whatever hospital their procedure was completed at, will be the best hospital. And, yes there are many Kaisers all across to back East. I was born at Bellflower.

It's not that Kaiser corrected PB (if there are actual statistics that mention this). To my understanding overall there were approximately 80 patients who recieved the lapband, either from Kaiser or another facility and Kaiser performed/corrected over something of 200 lapbands to sleeves. So, there were a lot of people being corrected by Kaiser than doing the actual sleeves. Although sleeves were done f0r the first time there too.

Nonetheless, who is to say where the majority of those patients come from. I think if you go to PB website Gastric Bypass Surgery and Bariatric Surgery information - Pacific Bariatric you will find another statistic rather than put them (Crown also) down. PB has done over 10,000 plus, because this is what they specialize in.

I want my surgery completed with PB, in that, I don't want to wait for Kaisers waiting list.

O wow I guess the rumors are true. I heard they closed the option to go to South Bay/Harbor City Kaiser because there was an expolsion of new patients :frown1:. I actually wanted to go to West LA initially but were backed up at the time. I guess it goes back and forth lol.

SO I am in week 8 of the options class. I am wondering a few things. How long does it take after you end the class, about,. to get your surgery?? It seems as though San Diego seems to be the best option. SHould I contact them before I get the referal? How does that work? Some insight would be rad.

Wha kind of test do they do? as much detail would be great

Hey everyone!

So I finally got my surgery date scheduled. It took a few followup calls to the surgeon's office (Dr. Yadegar in Lancaster), but I now have my date!!! I feel a little anxious, excited, nervous. I've started working out at the gym at my apartment complex, so I'm also a little sore! I'm feeling really good and positive about everything.

For those of you trying to get a timeline, I attended Options in Panarama City and am having surgery in Lancaster. From the end of classes to my surgery date, it will be 5 months.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
