Here's a New thing...sinus issue and pukey?

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this won't be TMI, but last night I had a great walk but some of the area I passed by was weedy. We've been dry, dry, dry here and it got my sinuses flaring a bit. I must have had sinus drainage going down my throat to my stomach because all of a sudden I got that horrible watery mouth feeling like I was going to hurl. The only thing I could do was keep spitting out the Water in my mouth until things settled down internally.

I had not overdrank or overeaten. In fact, I had not had a drink for probably 15-20 minutes while out walking, but this was definitely like the one time I took too big of a sip and was already full or at least close to being full and paid for it by feeling like I was going to puke. So at first I was puzzled but then I noticed the sinus thing...

So, has anyone else had to deal with this? Aside from starting to take allergy pills, is there anything to do to avoid this occurrence?

I have severe allergies, and deal with sinus issues. Early out when my stomach was still swollen, the only thing that helped was the children's Mucinex D meltaway medication. It's like little crystals you dump on your tongue and swallow. They taste good, and they work. It dried up all my sinus drainage, and didn't have any further problems. Further out sinus drainage wasn't such a big deal, but I do make sure to take Probiotics when I'm having sinus stuff because I want to make sure my stomach bacteria stays healthy.

I had a bad sinus infection a couple of weeks ago and the mucus was a HUGE problem for me. After it started making me puke I went and got some antibiotics. I finished my antibiotics (capsule form) without any problems but I'm not totally convinced that got rid of it all. I have found that in addition to my daily Zyrtec, being consistent with my nasal spray is helpful in keeping the drainage under control.

I have allergies and get sinus infections. I had an upper respiratory infection right after surgery. The post nasal drip made me vomit a couple of times. I take a steroidal nasal spray. It took a few weeks to work but keeps tings pretty well under control

Something to keep in mind. Guess I'll bring this up with my pcp next time I see him since our Fall allergy season is just right around the corner and I cannot take otc remedies.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
