Thank you everyone for your before help pretty soon I'll need your after help. I couldn't have gotten this far without your help.

Please keep me in your prayers as I take on this new journey.

Love you all,

Well I wish you nothing but good luck and good thoughts. I'll be thinking of you as well. Isn't this exciting.

I did get my bubble bursted somewhat tonight though. My 21 year old daughter is a Physician's asst. and when I told her tonight I wasn't waiting on the insurance she had a cow. She said NO your not getting it done there. You're going to wait and the insurance WILL eventually pay.

You know, that's not my only problem. All of the Doctor's here have done less than 500 of the lap bands. Now they done bunches of the Bypass by not the banding and in Mexico he's done more than 5000 but I just can't get my family on board. Oh well, life goes on.

Keep in touch and I'm so proud for you. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and especially on the 17th. Please keep in touch since we're having it done days apart.

Are you doing any preop dieting?

Sherri

Yes....I am very excited to be starting this journey and it's so nice to have someone who will be going through this at the same time.

I know what it's like when you decide you want the surgery.....you want it NOW!

I have been waiting for my insurance for 10 months and it's been the longest 10 months of my life.

I hate to say this but......IGNORE your daughter!!!

I'm sure she's just trying to be helpful because she loves you but this is such a personal journey and unless anyone has been through the anguish of failed diet after diet and having to carry all the excess weight around day after day then they have no idea what you are going through.

It takes alot of courage to finally admit you cannot "do it" any longer and decide to have surgery.....so I say go for it!

From what I've heard the Doctors in Mexico seem to be very competent and the fact that your Doctor has done 5000 LB surgeries more than speaks for itself.

I have an appointment on Friday with the Clinic Nurse and Dietician and I will know then whether I will have to preop diet.....I'm a little nervous and embarrassed about the dreaded weigh in and body measuring but I'm sure a few minutes of being uncomfortable will be worth it in the end.

Take care

Jo

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
