Ok so im 4 weeks out and already am tired of the foods im eating. I eat apple sauce, Beans, mash potatoes and my Protein Shake. So today i ate a tortilla and it went down fine. Is that a bad thing or is it normal at 4 weeks? Also is drinking ice tea not good? should i still blend my foods? Im so confused!:thumbup1:

I'm going on 5 weeks out on Tuesday and my surgeon said I was free to eat anything (healthy, Protein first, yada, yada) as long as I made sure to chew, chew, chew and of course control my portions (listen to my tummy when it's full).

I've eaten chicken thighs, pork, hamburger, and fish and have done just fine. The most carbs I've had are a tiny corn tortilla, a few wheat thins, and a piece of flatbread.

Anyhow, I hope that helps. She told me to listen to my body and how it reacted!

Good Luck!

Lovingly,

I don`t know how u survive?

I try everything that I can and am making a mental note of what works and what dosn`t. My staple are eggs, fish and chicken.

Foods that are high in sugar make me feel really horrid. bread tends to not go down easily and Soups don`t feel me.

Just to cover myself i`m going to remind us that different surgeons have different policy's.

Just remember, that staple line is still healing and you wouldn't want any hard bits of things to get stuck in there and fester.

At four weeks you should be about ready for most things EXCEPT...Raw veggies and hard raw fruits. CHEW, CHEW, CHEW, and follow your surgeons advice. Some things work better than others...I find that chicken, unless super moist, doesn't go down that good, certain meats, unless in gravy of some kind, also get stuck.

Maybe you can try some tuna fish, rotisserie chicken (dark meat), baked fish, string cheese, chili, cooked greens/spinach/green Beans. At this stage in your diet you should be able to eat most foods that are soft and easily chewed to mush.

I checked with my docs office last week and was told that it's ok for me to switch to caffeinated tea now that I'm past the 4 week mark. Of course the sugar free/low cal type would be best because regular sweetened tea can add alot of calories. I just tried diet Nestea today and it wasn't too bad. I could make my own with splenda but it's nice to have the convenience of the cans sometimes.

I've posted my postop diet in my blog if you want to compare mine with what your doc has prescribed. If our postop diets don't compare, look around for someone else's that does and then get some ideas from them.

Try mild chilli made with turkey mince. Just eat the mix and chew well, no need for rice or chips or tortillas etc. You will get a tasty meal, feel full after a small amount, and stop being bored with your diet.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
