If you had to do it over again, would you still go through sleeve surgery?

    • Yes, it's not so hard to adopt to your new body's requirements.
    • No, So many problems to deal with all the time.

Getting sleeved was the best thing I ever did for MYSELF and I would do it again in a minute. I have already recommended my doctor and the sleeve to 2 other people and I am only 5.5 weeks out!!

Actually, I thank God everyday that I was able to get the sleeve! (I was a self pay person.) I love it, would do it again in a heartbeat, and feel very loved by myself because I did this for me! It was undoubtedly the best thing I have ever done for myself, my health and my family.

This is my fifth day being sleeved. Like someone upthread said, I only wish this had been available and I knew of it decades ago. I would do it again in a heartbeat! The only rough spell I have had is the day of surgery...it was not fun...but the rest has been super!

I feel like I am living a dream, I no longer wake up EVERY single day devising a plan to lose weight. I LOVE my sleeve!

I think that once you start considering surgery, there really is no other choice. Obviously years of trying to lose weight wasn't working--why would I want to go back to that? As long as you've got an experienced surgeon, you shouldn't regret anything!

in a heartbeat, no question, people say they get mad when people say this is the easy way out, but i don't get mad, for me this is the easy way out, there was no way out for me until this, I could never have lost this weight or improved my life so well without this help. i'm off my blood pressure pills and i feel great. i love my sleeve, i'm almost 2 months post op and i've had a very easy time of it, i'd do it again and again if i had to, go for it,

My quality of life is the best it's ever been!!! I just had my 25th Wedding Anniversary dream trip with my husband to Italy in May. My tiny booty fit in the airplane seats, I was in great shape and able to walk around 10 miles a day sightseeing, and I never felt deprived any time we ate out. I was able to drink wine, walk stairs without huffing and puffing, and try on cute Italian leather jackets. If you look at my "before" pictures you'll see a miserable woman who never thought she'd have the life I do now.

Getting the sleeve was one of the best decisions I've ever made!

Not to get off subject here, but I loved the description of your Italian trip, so I looked at your pictures. WOW! You are a stone cold FOX!!! I love the red hair! Beautiful!!!

I am considering vertical sleeve surgery. Currently, I am waiting for insurance approval before setting a date with my surgeon.

I have been spending some time reading the pre and post surgery posts at this forum. And I have a question for people who have gotten the surgery done.

To be honest with you, reading some of post surgery posts are making me scared. It seems that quality of life is not much better after the surgery then it is before. Before you have to deal with problems related with being over weight, after the surgery you have to deal with so many issues relating to having almost no stomach.

IS IT REALLY WORTH IT???? After going through the surgery, recovery time, any complications, and the new life style you have to keep...If you had to do it all over again, would you still do the surgery?

I didn't have any difficult issues with my surgery. I just wish I could have had this surgery 30 years ago!

I am 9 weeks out, had no problems and love the sleeve. Best thing I ever did for myself. I am down from size "tight" 28 to 20 - almost into the teens - amazing. I have felt great and am doing things I only thought about doing before. So glad I did it, wish I could have done it 15 years ago.....Best of luck and keep us posted.

I'm only 2 weeks out and I already can walk without huffing and puffing--that's change enough to make me happy! But bonus, there's going to be more, like not having to ask for an airline seatbelt extender, and not worrying about if the furniture is sturdy enough to hold me. Plus the weight loss and disappearance of diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and asthma. I'm satisfied eating much less--lower grocery bills! I can't see a down side.

Oh man, I would TOTALLY do it all over again....It was so worth it...I did not have any complications what so ever, it was hard for me to think that I even had surgery and had to remind myself to slow down...I did find in the first couple of weeks that my stomach was "growling", but now i have non of that...i can pretty much eat anything, just in smaller portions and so far i have lost over 35 lbs since June 5th. It's so exciting for me since I know I would have never lost this much weight on my own, and I love exercising because I know that they weight is coming off...good luck on whatever you decide, you are the one that has to live with the decesion...I'm just really glad that I went ahead with it...

I'm post-surgery by eleven days now, and quite frankly, I'm feeling GREAT!!! The pain is now down to the level of "minor discomfort once in awhile if I remember to think about it," I haven't had to take even Tylenol for three days now, and I LOVE the weight-loss.

I'm still in the stage where it cracks me up how little it takes to make me feel satisfied. I'm still on the clear-liquids-except-for-protein-shake diet, and it takes me two days to eat two ounces of sugar-free Jello. I have to space out my Protein shakes more than the original 3x/day because I can't go through even four ounces of it fast enough for it to be palatable.

My husband and I joke about it. He's calling me "the incredible shrinking woman."

And I have my gym membership card, finally, with a gym that has an indoor walking track and swimming pools (brutal summers and winters around here make climate-controlled exercise something of a necessity). I'm starting tomorrow morning. I'm actually looking forward to exercising for the first time in years!

Yeah, my quality of life has gone up sharply since the surgery, and it's only going to keep going up. Next to marrying my husband, this is the best decision I've ever made. And this one was for me.

I think living with the sleeve is effortless. I love being thin and I wish I had been able to do this years and years ago.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
