Waves of nausea/sour stomach between meals

Recommended Posts

I am almost 4 weeks out and this week I am feeling little waves of nausea or sour stomach between meals. Not necessarily when I am eating. Although I am trying to go to more solids and am having some discomfort with that while I am eating. I am trying to make myself slow down because I seem to finish the tiny amount in tiny time. I don't know why I am feeling the nausea or acid- (not sure what it is). I don't think I had this twinges last week.:frown1:

I assume you're already taking an acid reducer of some kind? If not, you should be. If that's not the problem, then I'd try to keep SOMETHING in your stomach as much as possible, even if it's just liquids.

If it doesn't get better soon, call your doc and see what they suggest. Good luck!

I was having the same problem. Phenergan was no help so dr put me on zofran. I would try the acid reducer too if you aren't already on one. I couldn't stomach liquid on my stomach for some reason....the more I drank (no matter how slowly) the more sick I felt. I ended up in the hospital last week for severe dehydration and low bp. Talk to your doc. I know how horrible it is to feel perpetually nauseas! No fun!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
