Arm Exercises

I am 4 mo out and have lost 59 pds. I feel great. But my arms have flabby skin, the rest of me tightened up nice but really worried if i will be able to get the arms to look good ever. I am not a big exerciser, so looking for some easy exercises for the arms. any ideas?

Me too. But, alas, I suspect there is no complete cure for this, absent surgery.

Pushups are great once you are cleared to do them. They work the entire upper arm - and probably the lower arm too. Even the girlie pushups are effective. Start with a few and work your way up. I do agree that for some people surgery may be the only absolute fix. I'm almost holding my breath to see what kind of luck I'm going to have with my arms. It's lookin 50/50 right now...:scared0:

Google "Skull crushers" They are the absolute best exercise for toning your tricep areas.

Bicep curls are fabulous for your biceps.

I use 10lb dumbbells to do my skull crushers. So, I push 20lbs of weight total for skull crushers, and 15lb dumbbells for bicep curls.

Has anyone tried Shakeweight? I keep seeing commercials for it and I'm intrigued.

I haven't tried the shakeweights, but I did read an article that basically said don't waste your money. Wish I had the link for you to read but don't sorry! Before I read that article, I wanted to try them too.

i like to lift 5lbs weights and i feel it has helped me a great deal....i do scrunches in the front and then i lift my elbow and move my arm. then i do some form of back ward situps - they are a bit hard, but they are really helpful. Goodluck!!!

I bought "powerball" last week, started doing it and seems to be working. I've had my sleeve op just 3 weeks ago so can't do much exercise yet, but noticed that my arms are starting to flab

I know doing dips on a chair and push-ups (girly ones) are good exercises for the arms. I'm only a year out and feel that my skin is still tightening up and has made big improvements in the past 6 months and hope that it will continue. BUT, I do have this loose skin right under my arms that I can sometimes hear flapping that will not go away without surgery, but that will never happen for me. Good luck to you!

I DID buy the shake Weight, and I can attest to the fact that it DOES work. I haven't had it long, and I don't use it as much as I should, but man, my muscles hurt like heck when I do it. It comes with a DVD with a 6 minute workout. I've actually only been able to make it through the whole thing a few times cause it's so tough.

My husband is considering buying the men's size after seeing how well mine works. My muscle tone is horrible now that all my fat is gone. And I'll be 50 on my next birthday, so the skin is not so taut anymore either. So working on my arms is something I'm going to try and be more diligent about. If I get super buff arms I'll post a photo in a few months.

As a bona fide exercise addict, I've got all kinds of advice for you! First off, subscribe to a magazine such as Oxygen. They have great weight-lifting routines there for every bodypart. You can also buy something like the "Women's Health Big Book of Exercises." Last but not least, there's the very in-depth Bodybuilding.com which has a directory of exercises for every bodypart - I believe you can pick a muscle group and the site will give you a list of dozens of exercises for it, including videos to make sure you know the proper form.

Over the years, I've put on a good amount of muscle on my arms by doing lots of bicep curls, assisted pull-ups (if you go to a decent gym, there should be a machine there), assisted dips (if you work out from home, chair dips work, although not as well), tricep kickbacks, and overhead tricep extensions. The key is to use heavy weights - 5 lbs dumbells won't cut it. I'm obviously not lifting anything now, but before the surgery I would curl with 25-lbs dumbells. I believe I started out with 15s eons ago.

To get a nice arm shape, it's also important to train your deltoids (shoulder muscles). I usually do shoulder presses, lateral raises, and front raises for that.

My arms got their biggest/leanest when I took up boxing and spent a significant amount of time doing push-ups of all sorts and punching the heavy bag. My abs also got quite defined - you could see the outline even though I had a BMI of about 30! So I'd definitely recommend boxing to lean out your arms and the rest of your body.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
