I'M REALLY HAVING TROUBLE FINDING THINGS TO EAT. I'M 23 DAYS POST OP I'M ON MUSHIES SOFT VEGS, CAN fruit, SWEET POTATOES, ETC... I'M SOOOOO OVER THE Protein shakes THEY MAKE ME NAUSEATED, AND ALTHOUGH I'M OVERWEIGHT I'M A VERY PICKY EATER. NO COTTAGE CHEEESE, NOT A MILK DRINKER, NO STRING cheese BUT LOVE CHEDDAR cheese. TRYING VERY HARD NOT TO SLIP BACK TO OLD HABITS BUT THEY ARE REARING THEIR UGLY LITTLE HEADS THE ONLY GOOD THING IS I'M LIMITED IN HOW MUCH CAN BE CONSUMED. TONITE COULD NOT THINK OF ANYTHING TASTY TO EAT SO JUST SKIPPED dinner WHICH WOULD BE FINE IF I HAD HAD A GOOD BRKFST, AND lunch.

BRKFST; 34 OZ OF WATER/1 CRYSTAL LITE

LUNCH; 1/3 CUP RED Beans NO RICE

SNACK; MUSCLE MILK LITE

SNACK; 3 marshmallows (I KNOW )

16.9 OZ Water

VIAMINS/REG MEDS

OH! TBS OF Peanut Butter

ANY SUGGESTIONS I RETURN TO WORK MONDAY AND NEED HELP PACKING A lunch AND HELP FINDING THINGS TO EAT:svengo:

Can you have pureed meats?

If so, chicken, egg, tuna salad are all good option. Greek yogurt, sf pudding, you can buy 2% milk chunks by Cracker Barrel that are sharp cheddar. They are individually wrapped, and the perfect size. Refried Beans, pureed chili, and other foods that can be blended. Creamy Soups that are strained of chunks.

thank you i will try the chicken, tuna salad i'm to start those things on monday i'm also trying not to weigh daily as it drives me crazy but like a bad accident i can't help but look. I'm going to look for the cheese today. Tried egg salad but was rough no crackers just smelly mush in my mouth. I don't want to sound like i'm whinning even though i am(lol) i guess just having a hard time with the adjustments mentally that cheeseburgers and fries are not an automatic default when having food woes. It like gas will pass!!!!!! I hope:)

Not sure if you like spices but egg salad is really nice with the following added: (a pinch or to taste)

Garlic powder

Chili powder

Lemon Pepper

Grey Poupon Mustard (small amout it is strong)

Hope that helps some. :thumbup1: I also love my little magic bullet blender because you can puree smaller items quickly with less mess than a large blender.

Hey,

I am so happy for you that you had the surgery and I wish you luck on your way.

I think the following items may be good for you to try out:

- yogurt (watch out for sugar)

- homemade fruit smoothie (you make it with frozen fruit, OJ, scoop of vanilla Protein powder and some either s/f ice cream or yogurt)

- hard boiled egg

- Soups

- popsicles (s/f of course :()

- steamed veggies

- fruit, fruit and more fruit. (I would try watermelon and oranges - they seem to go down easily for me and my mom - both sleeved)

Also, when/if you have veggies or later on meats, it is really helpful to have a dipping sauce like ranch dressing or ketchup, etc, to help everything go down in the right direction.

hope this helps

I was told no watermelon for at least 8 weeks because of the fibrous content - or something like that. Has anyone else been told that?

No raw veggies/fruits for 3 months for that exact reason. Not to mention the extremely high sugar content that will spike blood sugar, and can actually cause cravings.

Focus on Protein, not filler foods. At least during this stage of the game, and this isn't to "call you out", but if you're eating marshmallows already, you definitely don't need to add sugars, carbs to your diet. It will only make those bad habits of reaching for easy foods harder to break.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
