I'm game for group meeting sometime. It really was fun last time. We could go to the same place too if people wanted.

:ranger: Alright,

So I started the 2 week pre-op 1,000 calorie diet prior to my surgery. Today is day one. :tired

I have to admit, I'm dying here. I would like to eat something with SUBSTANCE.

I hope this gets easier!

hi guys! long time no talk!!!! i have been busy and the weight loss is nonexistent as i am pregnant!!!! i am cautiosuly optimistic, almost out of 1st trimester whihc is a big milestone for me. i say dr. jones 2 weeks ago and lost 5 lbs from my last appt. he was thrilled, i was not! i had been down almost 70 lbs but fertility drugs and exercise restrictions along with no sugar substitutes have killed me so i put on about 8 lbs since spring. he did not take anything out of my band but says i can revisit it if i have trouble eating. usu just lunch and usu cuz i eat too fast.

how is the old gang? i agree we need another get together, nov is pretty clear so someone pick a few dates and we can do this...FINALLY! it would be nice to meet some of the newbies too.

deb, sherry, chris, kaydot, hugs

Hey Dez - CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy that's great to hear.

I'm with Dez on this we need to get together. I don't know about you folks but, getting to the support group meetings hasn't been easy for me. Hence why I haven't been to one. Lets work out something for our group to meet and discuss stuff. I live in Taunton...anyone interested in having it at my house so we can actually talk and feel free about it. We can all make some band friendly eats to bring so we don't have to worry about a bill or taking the table space too long. Let me know what you think. I'm still game to meet at the place we met before too

I'm doing ok here...cept I haven't lost and figured out I weigh the same as I did last October. Between the being taken off the high blood pressure pills (yeah) but, gaining Water weight back no so yea, then the fill that made me too filled so I couldn't swallow my own saliva so a slight unfill the next day, and then the acid reflux issue causing me to get an almost complete unfill....so from jan to now I put on 12 pounds with those issues. It's been a tough 2007 but, I'm still thankful because without the band it would of been alot more for sure! I'm seeing Jones on Wed and hoping to get a slight fill. I need to go slow on these so I don't overdo it and end up with reflux again. That was just too

Awwwww I'm going to miss Michelle.....I miss Angi too. I just don't relate to the other newer nurse that works with Jones. Don't even know her name :o

I'm headed up there tomorrow....gonna see if I can have a .50cc fill. I don't want to gun-ho this thing like it was done the last time. Acid reflux just doesn't become me...ewwwww

Hi all the old regulars and the newbies,

Congratulations to dezadoo!! What a surprize. I have been without my computer for a while now. I am not going to bother to have it fixed - just going to wait until I can get a new one. I am going to be "out of commission" for a while. Having a Hip Replacement Surgery. So, if you get together between now and Christmas, I won't be able to make it. The surgery is scheduled for Nov. 7th (except that I better recover from a sinus infection first, or they won't do it). I am still doing fine band-wise. Lost about 47 lbs. :clap2: since March. I get into a plateau now and then and cannot lose for a few weeks. :help: That is where I am right now. I will check in again via the library's computer to see how everyone is doing.

(nanavin))) Good luck on the hip surgery. If we manage to get together, we will toast to you. I hope all is well.

DEZ!!! Congrats on the great news. I am praying for your little bundle. Keep us posted. Wonderful to hear.

Sherry-that is so sweet of you to offer up your home. It would be great. I would feel much more comfortable meeting like that since in Braintree I was so afraid I would run into someone. I am a closet bandster! The only time right now that would not work is Veteran's day since I will be in Vegas (woohoo). Is anyone available Thanksgiving weekend? I think we just need to pick a date and plan it...at least maybe some people can successfully get together. I love making party food, and I promise to pick band friendly things.

Scary to hear Dez. I hope the bed rest have set things well. I had a very bad bleeding scare with my 2nd baby. It was horrendous and I remember how scary it was. I am sorry you had to go through that. I will continue my prayers.

So Sherry...when are you hosting all of us??? HA...see, you never should have mentioned it... :)

I think it would be fun.

I am at BIDM as well and had my post op appointment today with Kelly. She was very nice and I too like the staff and folks there. I had Dr. Jones and he is great! I have not been to any of the support groups and was wondering if they are helpful? This site has been my support before during and now.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Yeap I'll be out there with ya Dez...not sure which store I'm hitting first as I think I'm going to be a passenger. I generally don't end up buying anything but, I push the cart for my friend while I sing Christmas carols and tick everyone off hahaha. Just cracks me up that people get so mad out there that early when THEY KNOW it's going to be busy. For cripe sake YES you're going to have to wait in line...and yeap they're gonna hear me singing I'LL BE HOMMMMME FOR CHRRRRRISTMASSSSSSS while we wait for an hour in line hahaha. I just love that part. My friend turns all red...poor girl. I have to make a list because I don't have one right now and I'm finding I'm buying stuff I probably shouldn't. DH and I went to Kohl's last night just to get our walking steps in and ended up spending $450 YIPES! Did get some gifts, nice sales there...but I ended up with a leather jacket to wear on the motorcycle in the cold. Nice deal though..$69 bucks for heavy leather oh yea :)

Ok people I need some input doesn't look like many are up to getting together until after the holidays I'm guessing. Those that want to come on the 8th please PM me so I can figure out how many or if we're better off waiting until after the holidays. :)

Thanks!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
